These are the types of activities which create healthy communities for families everywhere in the world. As changes come so more girls and women can share in sports worldwide, the world will be a better place. As the past has shown however, it is critically important that governments do not take over training programs and see athletes as national symbols who can be drugged, abused or improperly trained to win at all costs. The author is correct that the joy in the photo of her son and his teammate is hard to sustain, but how grateful each of us can be when we live in countries which have sufficient peace that children can learn to play soccer (football) while their friends and families watch without fear of violence.

Looking at these two beatific faces charged me up with joy & positive energy. If I run Australia Ministry of Travel & Tourism I would use it in posters.

Last Saturday morning I got up in the cold, got my chair and drove to the local soccer field to watch my nephew play. We cheered, we laughed (softly at all the kids kicking in the wrong direction) and we ate the crispiest potato gems around. Good fun by all.
