They are too old for this kind of activity, could injure themselves.

You're kidding, right? If not....doesn't seem like you got the point.

Go not quietly into that good night!

Aw, Jane Katz was there! I learned to swim by reading her book.

This stuff is great. I have participated in the NY State Senior Empire State games the last two years and went to the national games in Birmingham AL. At 57, I am on the young side. In the National 5k road race, the oldest competitor was a 94 year old WW II combat vet—

Amen, amen, amen! We need to see and hear more inspiring news. At my Y an 88 yr old lady who is bent over her walker comes weekly to swim. I emphasized to her what a hero she was and how she inspired me. Keep on keepin' on! Thanks for the coverage.

What an inspiring story! Thank you participants and John Leland and Gaia Squarci. I was in such a foul mood before I read this on my subway ride into work. I was convinced, at 41 (!), my body and mind and earning-power were on the rapid decline and my best days over. These winners prove much of that wrong! (Well, I do hope so.) Keep up the great work everyone!

Terrific story, Brownsville Boys Club has been an institution for years.

Thank you Gaia Squarci and John Leland for bringing the Senior Games out of obscurity. I would love to see more. Reporting on our other side of life brings balance and hope. The shot of the participants against the empty stands was telling. Still, there are followers looking for these stories.
