Many congrats to the NY Times for your great work. Sometimes I do wish for certain changes and I have to agree with the comment about the election. I don't think Bernie Sanders ever got what he deserved from you, but there is so much good that you do do. So glad to have you as my primary resource for news. The work on the metoo movement has been spectacular; incredibly well done.
TES (NYS)
Congratulations to the NY Times! They don't award the Pulitzer prize for Fake news. Keep doing what your doing, America needs you:-)
Eugene Gorrin (Union, NJ)
Congratulations to the NY Times! Gee, has President Trump called or tweeted to congratulate the NY Times on winning the Pulitzer prize for its reporting? Probably not. Trump's assessment of the NY Times has never much wavered - the newspaper is "failing" and "fake news" asserts Trump repeatedly. Well, President Trump, take that. The NY Times is not failing. The NY Times is not "fake news". And the NY Times just won a Pulitzer for its reporting.
Philip Sedlak (Antony, Hauts-de-Seine, France)
Congratulations, Failing New York Times! You got what you deserve. Pulitzer Prizes for Fake News!
Pilot (Denton, Texas)
Toot. Honk. Toot. Honk. Did you receive any awards for your incredibly flawed, biased election coverage? Huh? Can't hear you....
Boo (East Lansing Michigan)
Congratulations to the men and women of New York Times, Washington Post, New Yorker and the Guardian. You are keeping the light of truth burning for all to see. Trump be damned, you are not “fake media,” but a necessary part of our democracy as you do the hard work that the First Amendment demands that you do. You keep us free.
Highwayroller (Moscow, Russia)
Proud subscriber from Moscow, Russia (yeah I know) since 2012. Congratulations, NYT! Keep searching for the truth.
Aristotle Gluteus Maximus (Louisiana)
Liberal incest, praising each other's deformed products of conception. The liberal media propaganda empire create and pushes an agenda, reporting on the "movement" they themselves created, encouraged and propagated. Who won a prize for "Hands up, Don't shoot!" ?
josh (LA)
Well deserved.
Chris (Minneapolis)
Oh Em Gee! The Times AND Washington Post? trumps head is spinning, his eyes are bulging out and I see steam coming out of his ears. Will Hannity be discussing this tonight? How will he spin it? All these failing papers winning prizes. It must be the deep state out to get them.
Keith (NC)
What garbage...why don't you report on the real "opioid epidemic" and save tens?, hundreds?, thousands?, millions? of people from literally being tortured 24/7? Too busy trying to take down Trump and "save democracy"? Or too busy torturing people yourselves?
Bryan (New York)
Score one for the NYT and political correctness, that balm for spineless people without the confidence to think for themselves
Mkm (Nyc)
Congrats NYT on a well deserved award for the Weinstein coverage and very deserving further congrats for launching #metoo. To soon to tell if the award for the Trump - Russia investigation coverage was earned. For all the whirlwind surrounding it the underlying premise of Trump collusion with Russia is very much an open issue, a longer view may just may well indict the NYT for partisan flame fanning.
bored critic (usa)
great. now the nyt will actually think it's doing a great job and reporting objective, unslaanted, unbiased news. Oh boy. now we need to look at who is on the pulitzer committee.
Chamber (nyc)
Hilarious! It's not the NYT that thinks it's great - it's the readers. But you don't read the New York Times, do you? And you're so proud of being uneducated! You are trump's kind of guy! Don't fret - there is time left in your life where you could actually learn to read. I think you'll enjoy it.
Nashville Jam (Other side of world from NYC)
Gee, a Hollywood sex scandal. Sorry, that does not measure up to past examples like when the journalists Sydney Schanberg and Dith Pran won for their exposé of Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia in the late 70’s of which the movie “The Killing Fields” came from. Maybe it was a slow year for real news.
writemor (Virginia)
Pure, sweet oxygen emanating from my paper today. Journalists are the true heroes of these troubled times.
S. Claudette Harper (Irvine CA)
Soooo, the "failing New York Times" just won the booby prize: 3 (no less) Pulitzer Prizes. Think about that Mr. Trump and you can put it in your pipe and smoke it.
kfm (US Virgin Islands)
The NYT and WaPo: Competency & spine. Oh, joy...!
Mrs B (San Francisco)
And this is why I happily pay for my subscription! Thank you for defending democracy and bravo on well deserved recognition for your expert work. The NYT has never been more important.
Ronald Aaronson (Armonk, NY)
Fox News didn't win one?
Karen Reed (Akron Ohio)
What??? Shawn Hanity is not on the list???
Suzanne (Baltimore)
Congratulations, "failing NYT"! You got a well deserved A . I don't know what I'd do without you. Keep up the good work.
Bajamama (Baja, Mexico)
Good for you!
Chamber (nyc)
Way to go!
David Dyte (Brooklyn)
I trust that the Times deals as well with harassment in its own ranks?
Mark L (Seattle)
Not bad NYT. Keep spewing out the Fake News, speaking truth to power and helping the American people see through our nightmare of a president. Thank you!
Frau Greta (Somewhere in New Jersey)
Well deserved!
Kathleen R. Lawrence (510 E. 23rd St. NYC 10010)
Of course, congratulations to The Times. However, it does seem ironic to see the women who uncovered the Harvey Weinstein scandal relegated to a group picture when Ronan Farrell gets a quite sizable portrait. In the group picture, who is the woman at the microphone? Which one is Megan Twohey? Which woman is Jodi Kantor? No identification in the caption! Their work was pivotal in “A world wide reckoning about sexual abuse that only seems to be growing,” says executive editor Dean Baquet. So why not give them proper credit?
observer (nyc)
Congratulations to the failing NYT :)
Robert Ullman (NJ)
Congratulations on a job well done. It occurs to me how many attorneys earn (presumably) a significant living defending the indefensible, from Weinstein, to the Fox News "Brothers", to the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. While Right-Wingers are quick to condemn so-called ambulance chasers, I don't hear any of their voices crying out in condemnation of these lawyers who are a stain on the profession.
kathleen cairns (San Luis Obispo Ca)
The Times and Post absolutely crushed the competition in the Russia investigation stories. The Pulitzers were so well deserved. Think Farrow deserves more credit in this piece. He doggedly pursued these sexual predators and broke stories when other outlets wouldn't touch them. And he kept at it. Congratulations to everyone.
Nan Patience (Long Island, NY)
Congratulations and thank you for your dedication. Where would we be without news organizations like the New York Times?
Mary O'Connell (Annapolis)
Not so "failing" to me. Keep good reporting coming, NYT.
N. C. Bosch (Palo Alto, CA.)
Congratulations. Well done. Thank you.
Nashville Jam (Other side of world from NYC)
This is a great honor for the Gray Lady. Hope it will be followed by many more. Especially when it comes to hard hitting exposes like this. Not to say it was a sure thing. Yet, somehow, the judges made the right choice. Truth scored a victory, today, that’s for sure. Better times lie ahead. Look to the future. Only rest when victory is certain. When the war has been won. Shalom.
Accordion (Accord,NY)
Certainly congratulations are in order to The Times’ journalists for their work on highlighting the problem of sexual harassment & Mr. Weinstein’s behavior. However, I was first made aware of Mr. Weinstein’s behavior by articles that appeared in the New York Daily News a couple years before and I think they deserve some mention. Thanks.
No Fake News Here (Michigan)
Congratulations to the NYT! Protecting our democracy is perilous times. Keep up the great work.
Preserving America (in Ohio)
Congratulations to the first newspaper I read every day. We all know that the past year you have been under constant assault from the Trumpies. Perhaps it's just me, but I think the president has done the newspaper world a huge favor. Not only is his constant carping attention getting, but I suspect it has made it easier for journalists to focus on what they do best -- report. Lord knows this president is a newsmaker! Maybe he's right about being good for business -- he has spurred new interest (and subscribers) in the newspapers.
Earl Todd (Baltimore)
Congratulations! Thank you for keeping a constant light shining On Trump’s misdeeds.
Paul P. (Arlington)
Congrats to the New York Times, and the Washington Post. And the best part? Trump looks even more foolish for calling them "failing"
Janet michael (Silver Spring Maryland)
So many hard working journalists, so few prizes to award to them!At a time when social media has glorified conspiracy and sensation and the administration has pounded the pulpit about fake news, the Washington Post and New York Times have been steadfast in upholding the highest journalistic standards.Journalism and the Justice system have given us hope that this assault on our democracy will end and will end well.
Fernando Guerena (Tacoma, WA)
Congratulations! More than ever I consider my subscription to The New York Times a personal small contribution to the cause of Freedom of the Press, a pillar of our Democracy that must be defended at all cost, within the frame of the Constitution.
Jane (Clarks Summit)
Well done! Thank you for relentlessly seeking and reporting the truth. Oh, and for once again proving that the New York Times, contrary to the president's empty assertions, is not "failing!" In fact, you are our lifeline in today's stormy seas.
s.khan (Providence, RI)
Congratulations to NYT and the journalists for winning the prestigious Pulitzer prize. It is the best newspaper.
Ted Rall (New York)
An amusing appositive: “ A first for the newspaper.“ Of course the win for editorial cartoon was the first for the newspaper. The New York Times has always had a dismissive and contemptuous relationship with political cartooning. Most recently and perhaps most notoriously, the New York Times weekly review section eliminated its weekly roundup of editorial cartoons because the nation’s editorial cartoons – I was the president of the cartooning association at the time – refused to accept a drastic pay cut of $100 per original cartoon – all to be submitted on spec. That’s why the weekly review section no longer has that selection of cartoons. I hope editors will reconsider their decision to eliminate the four staff cartooning positions that the New York Times had during the 1950s and restore editorial cartooning to a top position at the paper. After all, it’s an extremely powerful artform and, if given a chance, can bring glory and honor to the paper. In a digital age, it’s pretty obvious that graphics are important.
Peter Lobel (New York, New York)
As a regular New York Times reader...virtually every day for approximately 40 years...when reporters like Hedrick Smith wrote front page articles and columnists like Flora Lewis graced its pages, there is no better, more credible source not only for news, but for an endless array of important information that includes health, science, and the arts. Of course it's always a bit distressing to see some of the negative comments directed towards the NYT, reporting, but it's virtually assured that those people have little to no experience reading the Times. Anyone who does have the opportunity and good fortune to read it on a regular bass knows how fine a newspaper it is. Thank you NYT.
Mike Livingston (Cheltenham PA)
I''d have more respect for The Times and New Yorker if they addressed this issue before it was politically popular.
red sox 9 (Manhattan, New York)
Creating the metoo witch hunt was a public service? That would make Sen. McCarthy a public servant! But of course, millenials have never even heard of him.
nursemom1 (bethlehem Pa.)
Thank God there is a paper which respects and adheres to the principles of true journalism. What a pleasure to read an articulate and fact based paper. Reporter/professionals who record in appropriate grammar and do their "homework" before publishing the article. PLEASE.. don't allow bullies, and fools to undermine your good work..
Sage (Santa Cruz)
Plaudits for skillful investigative reporting on the Weinstein scandal are deserved and welcome. It is a pity, however, that such exposés were allowed to so often and so seamlessly morph into unwarranted witch hunting. Will National Public Radio apologize to on-line listeners of Writer's Almanac and Prairie Home Companion, the extensive archives of which have been censored for months out of scapegoating spite?
Lisa (Mendham, NJ)
Congratulations! My favorite morning, afternoon and evening read. Check out the sweet tweet from @TheMaxGregorian to his mom @maggieNYT.
willlegarre (Nahunta, Georgia)
When my fellow students and I were just sliding into our desks in Journalism 101 back in '74, the professor, Dora Byron, aka The Dragon Lady, exclaimed, "The New York Times is the greatest newspaper in the world." In the interval, I've found nothing to dispute that.
Blue Ridge (Blue Ridge Mountains)
Congratulations, NYT. Over and over again, Times articles set the bar for well-researched honesty and integrity in reporting. Efforts by Emily Steel and Michael Schmidt, certainly deserve the honor for exposing the duplicity of Fox News Bill O'Reilly, as does Jodi Kantor's and Megan Twohey's investigation of Harvey Weinstein's wretched use of economic power. Articles like these, exposing the truth, bettered the lives of an untold number of sexually harrassed and abused women. And just imagine if Times national reporting did not try to make sense of the presidential election, if the Times had succumbed to the "Hillary lost, get over it" rationale. Imagine if the NYT got lazy and did not delve into the implications of the cyber warfare waged by Putin. Something is rotten in America, and the Times exhaustive research into Russian interference in our 2016 elections provides a gateway through which Democracy can be saved. Identifying the problem is critical to its solution. And then along with a relentless search for the truth, the beautiful cartoon series "Welcome to the New World" by Jake Halpern and Michael Sloan display the heart and humanity of the Times. It does us all good to think about the lives of others less fortunate - and perhaps be a little kinder in our judgements. Thank-you NYT for all you do to keep American values alive.
Mark (Headley)
While I''m thrilled to support the Me Too movement and the NY Times' eporting focusing on its compelling feminist cause, Yet why must we read time/again assertions that all sexual predators/harassment involve men preying on young women/girls. Overwhelmingly so: leading women to understandably fear what they can confront so pervasively--more than sum of incidents. Yet hardly exclusively: the rest of us us count too when similarly preyed upon--even though fine for Me Too, reporting thereon,, to focus ACCURATELY on the vital feminist cause. Just as OK for 'Black Live Matter' not to muddle focus w/ 'All Lives Matter' -- so long as no offensive 'ONLY Black Lives Matter'"
Gina B (North Carolina)
Congratulations! As a regular reader, I feel truly fortunate to be able to rely on the compliant investigative journalism that is again the Pulitzer-winning New York Times.
del (new york)
Congrats! Even sweeter - knowing that this news will offer more heartburn to the pinch-hearted phony who currently resides at 1600 Pennsylvania. Brave Times folks!!
DAT (San Antonio)
Congratulations to the truth seekers and persistent journalists always with eyes open and words at hand. Thank you for keepibg on it!!!
ImRunningOutOfNames (Right and to the Left of Here)
CONGRATULATIONS! You have excellent range and depth. https://media.newyorker.com/photos/5a0e14e5bdc9984f9330e6b8/master/w_145...
C T (austria)
This former NYC woman always tells my 92 year old father; As the world turns so does my stomach. The TRUTH hurts. Thanks for printing the truth daily and getting down deep and dirty these days to serve it up to us. I need the daily sustenance of The New York Times daily! So much great writing and so many wonderful thought provoking issues. As a young girl I "cut my teeth" reading the paper and I so miss that extra heavy Sunday gift each week but I will turn old and lose my teeth (???) reading it daily until the very end. Thank you all and a great celebration for all your efforts and winning "BIGLY". GET HIM OUT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
loya (Sugar Land TX)
As a dedicated reader since 1969 when I used to pickup NYT for 10c from subway vendor, till today online. I was surprised when NYT courageously published entire Pentagon Papers of Vietnam in one morning issue (for regular 10c). And taking up women's cause by exposing perverted sex predators. I have found no paper in EU or US matching NYT. My interest went back when in those early years I used to visit NYC Public Library evening after work and read 1800's editions on micro-fish ribbons..My hearty congratulation to NYT times for getting prizes it deserved.
Monica (Walton, NY)
Bravo and Brava. Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try Again. Fail again. Fail better. Samuel Beckett
Davis Bliss (Lynn, MA)
Congratulations! I have been reading the Times since high school, and forty years later I continue to depend on your staff to provide informative, incisive & excellent reporting. Failing? I think not. Keep up the excellent work. It is sorely needed in the face of the outright lying and obfuscation by the current administration and their "news" outlets of choice.
KJ (Tennessee)
Congrats for these *unsurprising* achievements. You are the best!
btcpdx (portland, OR)
My admiration for my two favorite newspapers grows daily as their relentless investigation, discovery and disclosure of the mess that is our political system continues. I wonder when the reporters sleep! Congratulations NYT and WaPo, and thank you for shining a very bright light in a dark time.
Jenny Marie (Denton TX)
Congratulations to all the NYTimes reporters honored this year. One thing we can say about recent events is that it's reminded us just how important a free (and professional) press is to a nation's citizens. Keep up the great work!
A B (Beaver Falls, PA)
Congratulations and thank you for the excellent and necessary work that you do! Our democracy depends on it.
kathleen cairns (San Luis Obispo Ca)
Absolutely! Think that every day and ponder what would happen if the "crooked," "fake" media was not here.
Karen Mallia (Columbia, SC)
Brilliant work. Well deserved recognition for all who contributed. Let's hope that the sunshine these journalists cast brings the seismic change needed in corporate culture and society. Let's start with how we raise boys--and the next generation of men and women will both live better lives.
Melinda Wilson (Arizona)
Congrats Times and Wapo reporters! Great and courageous work all! Sad you didn’t mention that the explanatory journalism Pulitzer went to the Arizona Republic/USA Team for it’s phenomenal and stunning mult-media package on the plans to build a wall along the border, The Wall. It’s available online and it’s a must read for understanding this issue.
CAW (New York)
Bravo to the New York Times. I subscribed in August of 2016 figuring I would keep it through the 2016 election. However, it soon became evident to me that I really NEEDED to stay in touch with the political happenings and the other important stories in the world. Now, I read the "Morning Briefing" and the Opinion Newsletter every morning, and browse for other articles as well. I appreciate that you report the TRUTH in addition to opinions. You certainly deserve the Pulitzer.
Usok (Houston)
Congratulations to NY Times for an excellent job reporting critical stories. One thing I think missing is that no story of Hurricane Harvey, a once-in-a-life-time event, was nominated by the Pulitzer even though NY Times had done a good piece and may be more of that event.
Anne Trompeter (Evanston, Illinois)
Bravo! Thankful for your excellence.
James Murphy (Providence Forge, Virginia)
Congratulations! The cream always rises to the top.
Mary (Cambridge MA)
Thanks for all you do to preserve the essential role of a free press in our democracy. Well done.
Alfred Yul (Dubai)
Congratulations to the NYT! Proud to read the best newspaper in the world every morning.
ttrumbo (Fayetteville, Ark.)
Congratulations to my favorite paper. Good work. Good job. Good energy. Truth is a hard thing to understand; so, let's all help each other try to do just that. Trump and the Republicans are destroying America. We must fight harder for the less fortunate, the poor, the near-poor. We must create a better community. We have far to go. Your paper may need more commitment to the idea of equality, and therefore, high taxes on high wealth and income and property. There's no other path towards a more perfect Union. The NY Times can help us get there.
Jcaz (Arizona)
Kudos to all! Keep up the great reporting - we're all counting on the press to tell us the truth.
Susan Hatfield (Los Angeles)
Congratulations to the NYT, to the journalists who covered these stories and to all NYT employees who supported them. You are the first thing I read in the morning and the last at night. I even get your hard copy so I can read all the great stories you don't necessarily find online. A toast to a superb paper and staff!
Aloysius (Singapore )
Great job and absolutely. That article not only reported an expose, it created a social movement. Please keep up more of these incisive, critical journalism that is so needed around the world. Could I also ask a favour to report more articles along these lines about South-East and East Asia?
MJ (Portland OR)
Thank you, NYT journalists, for your courage and willingness to speak truth to power. And for all those women out there who told their stories: you've changed the world.
Robert (California)
Congratulations to the NY Times. I have been reading the Times since I was a child in NYC. You are even more vital to our nation now in protecting our democracy. Thank you.
Elizabeth Ann Riner (Austin, TX)
Congratulation to our NYT and our WP for providing this type of old fashioned great reporting. And congratulation to us readers who continue to pay for subscriptions so that this type of reporting can continue.
Tom Sullivan (Encinitas, CA)
Now, more than ever, is the time to support real journalism. Congratulations!
Mark (BVI)
If the paper's work on the sexual harassment problem did not win, then the fix was in.
CABOT (Denver, CO)
Congrats to the NYT for this well deserved award! I'm proud to be a subscriber. Worth every penny every day! Keep up the good fight against ignorance and darkness.
Cheryl Smith ( Illinois)
Congratulations to you all, keep up the good work and great reporting. We need you all more than ever. Everyday, I can't wait to hear what you've discovered and look forward to reading about it.
WorldPeace2017 (US Expat in SE Asia)
Thank you New York Times and Washington Post, again you have saved the day if not our rears. There is still much work to be done but you are the beacon that gives us hope that there can be great light ahead for all people, not just the powerful, wealthy or well connected. For a host, it was Bloody Sunday followed by Stormy Monday but for the people, your Monday awards were the best gifts to ice our cake. Long Live the Free Press.
Alain (Montréal)
Congratulations to all the NYT! I am so proud to be a paying subscriber. I am proud to say that I am paying those journalists salaries: this is my part to saving democracy and justice.
Pine Mountain Man, Esq. (Way West Of The Pecos)
There are really no words to express what the NYT, WAPO, and the New Yorker mean to our country. I can't imagine democracy flourishing without them, and the hard working members of the free press around the world. The Fourth Estate is our last line of defense, and it is holding the bulwark against unprecedented attack. Thank you is all we can say. Oh, btw, we know what lies ahead, so you'll all have ample opportunities to fulfill our expectations for you next year. Nobody gets to rest on their laurels right now.
fast/furious (the new world)
Thank you, NYT reporters, and congratulations! You've changed our world for the better! Congrats also to Ronan Farrow, whose investigative reporting on Harvey Weinstein led to Farrow and the New Yorker being the co-winner in this category. Great work, Ronan Farrow!
batavicus (San Antonio, TX)
Congrats, Post and Times!
brians3 (Oak Park)
Congratulations. Well earned. And not bad for fake media and being the "failing New York Times."
GH (Los Angeles)
Congratulations, Failing New York Times!
Nirmala (Pudota)
Congratulations! NYT! I am so proud of the Fourth Estate with NYT and WaPo leading the courageous journalism!
Carole (New Orleans)
Best newspaper in the Nation! Congratulations
Jean (Vancouver)
Congratulations to all the journalists who have won these awards this year. The last 18 months have been exhausting for readers, I can't imagine how exhausting and sometimes discouraging it must have been and still will be for journalists to pursue these leads, try to make sense of what is happening and report in a coherent manner. My thanks to you all. Without you.... ??? I hate to think about it. I do wish the NYT's and WaPo would find some way to reprint or put links to the articles from the much smaller circulation publications that also won awards. I would like to read them. Smaller newspapers need support too, as do the journalists writing for them. Well done all!
Out of Stater (Colorado)
Well-said, Jean. As a constant reader who tries to keep up yet often remains drained, I am in awe of the professional journalists who doggedly stick to it, in order to keep us Free. Well-done, all! Never stop, never give in, never capitulate! M.A. Journalism, retired
HH (New York)
I echo your congratulations! Also, check out this article: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/16/business/media/pulitzer-prize-winners... - it has a fuller list of the winners with links to the articles of note.
HH (New York)
Also, the Pulitzer site http://www.pulitzer.org/prize-winners-by-year/2018 has links to an even fuller complement of articles for each of the awards, showing for example, the 22 articles that comprise the "Winning Work" for the Public Service Pulitzer.
R Nelson (GAP)
We'd like to add our congratulations to the growing swell of voices. We subscribe to all three Pulitzer winners, plus The Guardian for some foreign perspective and The Auburn Citizen, The Lewiston Tribune, and The Hays Free Press for the local view. I admit to being torn as to whether to open the Times or WaPo first with my coffee, and then back and forth over the course of the day. You both have fine columnists as well as superlative reporting. My day wouldn't be complete without you.
Jean (Vancouver)
I think a lot of Americans would enjoy The Guardian reporting. They have a US edition that has a different slant sometimes on what is happening. I think it is important for all of us to pay attention to what is happening in the UK and Europe as well. They have many different editions that highlight world wide. The Guardian is exceptional. It is 'owned' by a trust that was set up by the heirs of the original founders. They do need the support of readers, but you can give what you can afford, and if that is nothing you can still read and comment freely. The people who comment on all their various articles are an escape for me when I need to get out of the obsessive circle of worry that these pages induce.
Margie Regan (Larchmont)
Congratulations, NYT. Please include these awards as part of your “good news for the week”! We are all so fortunate to have the incredible NYT staff on the side of “real news”.
LA (Dude)
looking at the photo from the article, it seems like the times needs to create more gender diversity among it's writers and editors.
Dave (Middletown)
Well said!
Matchdaddy (Columbus)
Could this be The "failing NYT" not likely !!!
Kris Wilson (Washington )
A well deserved award. You are a light in our dark times. My subscription to the NY Times is a symbolic flipping the bird to faux news and company.
Thomas (Galveston, Texas)
The pursuit of truth has a cost. That's why we need to maintain our subscription to the NYT so that the truth will be pursued at all times, especially under the current assaults on the truth by a truthophobic president.
jabarry (maryland)
What! Donald Trump is wrong!!! The New York Times is not "failing?" Somebody ought to inform Trump. That would just be a waste of effort.
Brian (Rancho Mirage )
Kendrick Lamar is no more of a surprise pic the New York Times. It has a lot to say about the state of the Pulitzer prizes.
John (Boulder, CO)
Congratulations NYT! Exposing serial predator Harvey Weinstein and other sick Men deserves all of our thanks.
Blue (St Petersburg FL)
What?! Fox News was shut out? Fake news.
Concerned (Brookline, MA)
The Deep State knows no bounds.
Army Democrat (USA)
Now Trump will definitely stop calling you The Failing New York Times. The man has so much respect for the Pulitzer.
tm (Boston)
At a time when the press is pressured both by totalitarian as well as difficult economic forces, Bravo to the NYT ! I am happy to support it with a subscription; I only wish I has the means to do the same for many other deserving newspapers...
A. Stanton (Dallas, TX)
Frank Sinatra must feel real good about Ronan getting the prize.
frankly0 (Boston MA)
A Pulitzer Prize for the Trump-Russia connection? So you can win a Pulitzer for finding nothing? Wait till the Meuller Witch Hunt comes back with no Russian Witches. Won't that be embarrassing for those who are capable of it!
Thomas Stephan (Media pa)
Wait, no pulitzer for Trump or Fox so-called news? 'guess no Russian collusion this time.
A. Stanton (Dallas, TX)
Frank Sinatra must feel real good about Ronan getting the prize, but Woody probably has mixed feelings.
Sumand (Houston)
Congrats NYT...I am so addicted to you !
Alex (Indiana)
There is a great irony in the Times' Pulitzer for its many stories on harassment. First, I do not wish to belittle the actual reporting, which did the nation, and indeed the world, a service. But Times did more than its share of enabling sexual harassment in the first place. Most importantly, the paper supported one of the greatest predators of recent memory, Bill Clinton. By supporting Clinton, and virtually ignoring his behavior, the Times very much sent the wrong message. The Times also supported Woody Allen. Though he has not admitted to or been convicted of a crime, many of his actions do not pass the smell test. Yet, the Times gave him substantial page space in its Sunday review to defend himself, published his book review as the lead in its Sunday book section, and has reviewed all his movies. Surely there were more worthy directors who would have benefited from the coverage in the widely-read Times. The Times has published several op-eds by Ellen Pao, annointing her spokeswomen for women. Ms. Pao had a consensual affair with her married boss. He message may have had merit, but she was surely the wrong messenger. The Times has published photos that gratuitously sexualize women, including the cover of a T-magazine article on Natalie Portman as a film director; Ms. Portman did not wear any pants, only a tiny bikini, and several of her poses were genuinely provocative. So, kudos to the Times and its reporters. But often actions speak louder than words.
Geraldine (ACT Australia )
Congratulations to the NYT and most especially to all those who work at the NYT to make it such a great newspaper. Freedom of the press is paramount especially at this time in history. The NYT is my favorite newspaper and I'm always impressed with the quality of journalism.
Ted Gallagher (New York)
FLOOD THE ZONE, as you do!
D.j.j.k. (south Delaware)
Very nice to know my favorite paper won the top award. Great job. I enjoy your articles every day and comment section . I plan to be a NYT subscriber for a long time. Keep it up.
Robert Dana (Princeton)
“The national reporting prize went to The Times and The Washington Post for their coverage of Mr. Trump’s possible ties to Russia.” Possible ties. That’s got be a first. An award for reporting on a possibility. The apotheosis - or nadir - of institutional bias. Good grief!
Kent Severson (Honolulu)
Congratulations Times!
mary (connecticut)
Congratulations and thank you. Well deserved.
Patricia (Florida)
Congratulations, NYT, and thank you for the intense work and results that earned the prize.
Rizki Fachriansyah (Jakarta)
Nothing like a dose of optimism and hope to start my day. Congrats, NYTimes, New Yorker, WaPo, KENDRICK LAMAR, and other Pulitzer winners!
A. Stanton (Dallas, TX)
And the first desideratum in a headline is that it deal with a single and capital fact. It must be "McGinnis Steals $1,257,867.25," not "McGinnis Lacks Ethical Sense." --- H.L. Mencken, “Newspaper Morals”, The Atlantic, March 1914 issue. This past year a very good year for the Times, the Post, the L.A Times and many other newspapers because -- for the most part -- they stayed away from ethics and morality and concentrated on telling the American people exactly what Trump and his friends like McGinniss have been up to. Long may they live and prosper.
A. Stanton (Dallas, TX)
This past year was a very good year for the Times, ....
michjas (phoenix)
The only journalists who respect the Pulitzer selection process are those who win. The prizes are selected by a board that has limited expertise in the categories they judge, leftward political leanings, and too many contestants to judge -- often hundreds -- in a responsible way. The Pulitzers for literature repeatedly lack distinction and those for journalism are more about bringing honor to the Pulitzers than to the best journalists out there.
Gsoxpit (Boston)
I respectfully disagree. Through the history of the Pulitzer it’s about the integrity— not intent. I’ve rolled my eyes about some awards given (who hasn’t?) but these seem right. The Times, in particular, keeps providing solid reporting, analysis and thought to complex issues. This stuff matters in a time where our media is becoming conglomerated by groups like Sinclair. So, say nobody cares except back-slapping winners and I say people who care about depth care deeply.
Maryderby (Little Compton RI)
Thank you!!!
MotownMom (Michigan)
It's not often we have to admit that but for the excellent reporting by journalists, we'd all be losing our minds. Congrats to NYT, WaPo and New Yorker for what you do for us, and the rewards that hard work has wrought for you all. “Our liberty depends on the freedom of the press, and that cannot be limited without being lost.”—Thomas Jefferson (1786)
Concerned citizen (DC)
Thank you to the NY Times for your hard work and dedication to information and the truth. Your work is crucial to recording history.
Njlatelifemom (Njregion)
Well deserved by every reporter involved in these Herculean efforts. Hearing some of these reporters on Fresh Air gave me some insight into the craft and the dedication it takes to bring us these stories. Simply an amazing feat. Thank you for every word and I think it's fair to say that your reporting has changed the world in ways that we can just begin to see. Bravo.
Alison (Boston)
Congratulations! Well deserved. Thank you!
SNA (New Jersey)
It's not often that one can actually note a particular moment a historical shift occurs--but the reporting on what led to the #MeToo movement is certainly an exception to that rule. Your reporters--particularly Twohey and Kantor--gave a master class on how to investigate a story and tell it in such a way, that it reads like a riveting novel. Thank you for your hard work and dedication--I think this tag team of Kantor and Twohey is the Times's answer to Woodward and Bernstein.
Mario (Portugal)
Congratulations, well deserved! Keep up the good work.
Patrick (Ohio)
Way to go, “failing” New York Times! May you “fail” your way to many more Pulitzers! Congratulations!
Caitlin Grady (10509)
Congratulations! We’re grateful for your coverage.
Skeptical Cynic (NL Canada)
Congratulations NYT, good show!
Jey Es (COL)
BRAVO!
rwgreene (San Rafael, CA)
Why is there no mention of the Santa Rosa Press Democrat winning for Breaking News? Hard to believe, I know, but there is a lot of good journalism taking place west of the Hudson. You guys are so provincial. Sheesh.
HH (New York)
It's here in the full article about the Pulitzer winners: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/16/business/media/pulitzer-prize-winners... . This particular article is primarily about the public service award.
Beatriz (Brazil)
Congratulations to the best newspaper in the world!
Wally Wolf (Texas)
Congratulations, New York Times! We are proud of you. No matter where we live, you're our hometown newspaper - a newspaper we can trust.
ECWB (Florida)
So, so true! This IS the nation's home town newspaper. Where would our democracy be without the Times and its excellent reporters, editors, and photographers -- and the publishers who are committed to reporting the facts to the nation and the world? Thank you all for your tenacious work and for your integrity and courage. I am grateful to be able to subscribe to your print edition, the New Yorker, and the digital WaPo. Long live mainstream journalism!
SlyFox (U.S.)
"Possible ties"? Can i get an award for possibly doing something, something that hasn't been proven yet? lol
Redwood George (Sonoma County, California)
It's a shame that you listed practically all of the other awards but neglected to mention the Santa Rosa Press Democrat's recognition for breaking news coverage of the Wine Country fires: https://bit.ly/2vpGBBG Moreso a shame because until recently the Press Democrat was a sister paper to the NYT, part of the NYT Regional Media group.
HH (New York)
It's in this article about all of the Pulitzers, and highlighted second https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/16/business/media/pulitzer-prize-winners...
Silence Dogood (Texas)
And I'd bet they win another when Trump bites the dust. He'll soon be weighted down with so many RICO charges that even Sean Hannity and Michael Cohen won't be able to bail him out.
Anthony Bilotto (New Rochelle, NY)
Congratulations! You guys actually exposed Harvey Weinstein BEFORE he died- I certainly would have bet against that.
Ralph (NYC)
Bravo! A well deserved award! Keep up the phenomenal work.
Jen Maria (Boston)
Like everyone else, I offer my congratulations and thank you for your reporting. However, I have a request: now that they won the Pulitzer, can we now find out what happened to our Syrian refugee families from “ Welcome to the New World?” I for one anxiously await how they survive in our country!
RealTRUTH (AR)
HEY TRUMP - EAT YOUR HEART OUT! The NYT and WaPo, your "failing" newspapers, just took most of the Pulitzers! Thank you for providing them with so much criminal, treasonous and anti-American activity. Keep up the good work until they can report on your imprisonment.
Pat (WV)
You all are what keeps our country-- our country.
Out of Stater (Colorado)
Beautifully, simply, truthfully said.
Nanook101 (Yellowknife, Canada)
Congratulations to your fine team of writers and editors for their important stories on sexual harassment, and thank you for publishing a photo of the team. I am struck however, by how many women form the team, and how few male faces there are - surely, the NYT did not assign staff based on their gender when reporting on such a vital issue?
Dave (Middletown)
Lots of minority’s in the picture too!
Paul Blais (Hayes, VA)
As expected, but not demanded. A free press delivers the truth! It ain't easy or every newspaper could do it. Proud subscriber! Do not stop! We need you more than ever!
Robin West (Virginia)
Thank you for all you do to give us well written and well sourced news. Your efforts are well appreciated by all in my family.
Paul (Chicago)
Well done to the Times and your writers A free press is a fundamental pillar of democracy
Thomas Alton (Philadelphia)
The NYT's pickup of a Pulitzer Prize is evidence enough that this paper is, indeed, the 'newspaper of record' that will continue to occupy library drawers at college and university libraries around the globe. Hats off to this vital newspaper!
Tony Francis (Vancouver Island Canada)
Well done NYTs. My only qualification would be your political coverage. It has been slanted and often wrong. I know a segment of your readership eats it up but I miss the authenticity which is so evident in the rest of your news paper.
Nata Harli (Kansas City)
How about some facts to support your allegation? What, exactly, are you talking about?
DZ (NYC)
Nata Harli, read anything published here during the Election of 2016 and it will make sense for you. Such short memories...
DMS (San Diego)
Congratulations and sincere thanks for shining your light. Sometimes it feels like you are our only hope!
Kate Sarginson (Victoria BC Canada)
Congratulations on your awards. You truly deserve them. Your coverage has been first class along with that of the Post and the Guardian.
risrael1a (Boston,Mass.)
Congrats to the Times the New Yorker for their relentless pursuit of truth and for exposing sexual predators. As Nina Simone, quoting Langston Hughes once said, Make sure you tell them exactly where its at so they have no place to hide.
Gerry Freeman (Santa Fe)
When historians write about the present dark age in America, they will give high marks to the New York Times, Washington Post and New Yorker. I have been reading and subscribing to the Times and New Yorker for 76 of my 88 years. Like me, keep coming on.
Nata Harli (Kansas City)
Gerry, you are my hero for today. 76 of 88 years. Wow!
UPsky (MD)
Congratulations to the winners on the well deserved honor. Would have loved to see Rukmini Callimachi on the list. She has to be one of the finest journalists of our time.
Nancy (Great Neck)
Congratulations to the New York Times and ever so deserving Pulitzer Prize individuals. You are richly admired and appreciated.
CdRS (Chicago)
Wonderful news and well deserved. Proud. Trump calls the NYTimes a “failing newspaper” whenever he can and that only confirms how out of touch he is with the real world and Democracy.
Charlotte Amalie (Oklahoma)
So, does Trump now tweet about the failing Pulitzer Prize committee?
ERT (New York)
“Obviously, the crooked Pulitzer committee (worst EVER) is trying to prop up the failing New York Times’ slanted fake news. No collusion, lying Comey, Crooked Hillary.” Probably about like that.
Nata Harli (Kansas City)
That was a rhetorical question I assume.
D.A.Oh (Middle America)
Congratulations to the Winning NY Times and Washington Post on their Pulitzers for their coverage of the Failing Trump Administration!
Nancy Lederman (New York City, NY)
Oh, yes! New York Times, New Yorker, too, take a well-deserved bow and thanks from your grateful readers.
GMR (Atlanta)
Congratulations NYT for outstanding reporting in the service of the American people. At many times in the last year and a half, it has felt to me that you were one of the few institutions shining a light on the heinous corruption and malfeasance facing our beleaguered democratic government institutions here in the US. Thanks again!
dutchiris (Berkeley, CA)
If we all chipped in we could buy President Trump subscriptions to both media outlets. He could stay informed if he actually read them, but unfortunately that's extremely unlikely. He reads headlines, yes, but whole, long, entire articles? I mean, if he did that how would he have the time for all those tweets and . . . well . . . golf?
RjW ( Chicago)
Thank You for your service.
Dry Socket (Illinois)
Congratulations...You and the Washington Post are the 'Last Angry Papers"...
DJ Tan (Big Bear, CA)
Proof positive that our "inaugural" present to our family of subscriptions to both the NYT and the WAPO were money well spent! Keep up the good work. There's a reason 'freedom of speech' is the FIRST amendment. Democracy dies in darkness, keep shining that light!!!!!!!!
tinker (Austin, Texas)
You are the best! Rumors of your 'demise' were fake news!
The Buddy (Astoria, NY)
Great work covering that jive turkey Weinstein!
Angry Bird (New York)
Congratulations to the New York Times! I am proud of being a long time subscriber of the paper. The recognition is well earned and well deserved.
JK (Illinois)
The local Chicago papers revealed exactly how we taxpayers were getting scammed by the guy who set the taxes on our homes. He was ousted in the primary, probably due to these articles. Great reporting and a great public service.
carrie (st paul MN)
From the hinterland -- I can only say thank you for justifying my subscribing and reading both the NYTimes and The New Yorker daily in order to keep up with the hot news circles. I spent hours here during our latest blizzard reading both keeping sane and feeling part of what makes our country great. Kudos -- I don't expect anything less!
John (Boston)
Congratulations Times for this well-earned recognition, and thank you for your continuing pursuit of the truth. "Failing," indeed.
Julie W. (New Jersey)
Great work by the New York Times, the Washington Post, and the New Yorker. Well-deserved recognition. There are other publications that have also delivered solid reporting on the Russia matter as well. I'm proud to be a subscriber to the Times and the Post. Please keep it going this year. More than ever, the nation needs you.
R.S. Capers (University of Connecticut)
Congratulations to The Times, not just for winning three Pulitzers (well-deserved, too!), but for also being finalists in seven of the news categories. That's impressive. Well done.
SV (Los Angeles, CA)
Thank you to the Times for your role in changing the conversation about sexual harassment and assault. And thank you to Twohey and Kantor, the two women who broke and wrote these stories. Women everywhere are indebted to you!
Marshall (California)
When history reckons with this disastrous period of our history, the New York Times will be rightfully remembered as being the guiding institution of truth and integrity which lead us out of this darkness.
Dotconnector (New York)
"Failing" upward -- way to go, New York Times!
A Lonely Moderate (California)
Congrats to all at the NYT. Thank you for maintaining high standards of quality and integrity. These are trying times, especially with POTUS trying to undermine journalism (or at least critical and unfavourable coverage), and it’s reassuring to be able to rely on strong reporting and analysis, even if (or perhaps especially when) I disagree with an article.
Karen Cormac-Jones (Neverland)
Congrats, New York Times! Lincoln Steffens and Nellie Bly would be proud!
Brian Flynn (Craftsbury Common, Vermont)
Congratulations New York Times, Washington Post and New Yorker. Real news matters.
John (Napa, Ca)
Congratulations to both the 'failing' NY Times and The New Yorker. As long-time subscribers to both (read them every day!), this validates my stance that it is worth paying for quality journalism.
Andrew Greenberg (Atlanta)
Congratulations to an excellent news team!
RealTRUTH (AK)
KUDOS TO ALL AT THE NYT! Thank you so much for your intelligence, courage and dedication to the principles of truth and democracy. Your mothers and fathers would be very proud, as am I.
Henrique Pacca (Brazil)
I'm proud to be an international subscriber of such an important news outlet. Keep up the good job.
a (z)
OK, this is great but where is the continuity? It's as if this topic of sexism has dropped off the radar screen of this paper. Although racism seems to be a constant.
May (NYC)
Every day I read 2 newspapers: NYT and Washinton Post. In a time when the president of Unite States, the leader of the free world, tells lies almost daily and the Republicanc Congress has lost soul and spine en mass, you are the ones to expose the ugliness and hold up our American vales and conscience. Congratulations! Proud of you!
Sherr29 (New Jersey)
Subscribe to both for precisely the reasons that both the NYT and New Yorker won Pulitzers -- timely, well-researched reporting and writing. Someone tell Trump so his head can spin off.
Stephen (Raleigh)
Great newspapers. They will be the critical element in saving our democracy. Keep shining the light.
eckmrobe (Libertyville)
I am also a subscriber to NYT and New Yorker, both excellent reading material and worth every cent. No Fake News in either.
Dotard (Where Am I)
Considering the amount of time you spent on the #MeToo movement while avoiding extensive coverage of the Net Neutrality issue, I sure hope you won something for it. For an encore how about you report on your collusion with the DNC last year.
Edward Hershey (Portland, Oregon)
So pleased that the folks at Columbia saw fit to follow our lead and match the awards Long Island University's George Polk Awards presented to the Times and Post for exposing Russian interference in the2016 election, the Times and the New Yorker for exposing Harvey Weinstein and the Post for exposing Roy Moore's predatory history though I do wish the Pulitzer folks had named the reporters involved.
cmm (ny)
Congratulations to the NY Times and to all your journalist colleagues who won Pullitzer Prizes. You give us hope for our democracy.
May MacGregor (NYC)
Every time I hear Trump calling NYT "fake news," it always gets my nerve. Father of Fake News calls others "fake." Liar in Chief calls others "liar." That's the abnormal era we are in now. And we all hope it can end soon.
gardens20 (New Jersey)
Even though I moved away from the New York area several years ago, the NYTimes remains my favorite newspaper. Congratulations to their many Pulitzer Prize winners.
BG (Cambridge, MA)
The NYT, WPO and the New Yorker are my three favorite publications. I have been subscribing to the NYT for over 50 years now and will continue.
DenisPombriant (Boston)
Keep failing! Maybe we'll get tired of that just like we got tired of Trump winning.
Lakegrrl (Seattle)
Reasons why I subscribe to both the NYT and New Yorker. Congratulations, and thank you for providing in-depth, fact-based journalism.
Jas Hunter (New Jersey)
Congratulations, NYT! Trump loves to call NYT “failing New York Times”, well, I am wondering who is failing.
KathyinCT (Fairfield County CT)
Bless the NY Times for that "cartoon" series about a Syrian refugee family trying to make their way in the U.S. It has brought me to tears, and indignation, and wrath, and despair, many times. Jack and Michael --- you capture the fear and the pain and the bittersweet hopes of this family who just want a chance to live a decent life. KUDOS!!!!!!!!!!
J. M. Sorrell (Northampton, MA)
There's nothing better than being rewarded for DOING THE RIGHT THING. When one is a moral actor, it is without expectation for reward. So well-deserved..............
Fred R. Kline (Santa Fe)
Kudos to the reporters ! Kudos to the free press! Kudos to the U. S. Constitution! ONWARD!
LaughingBuddah (undisclosed)
Fake Pulizer for failing New York Times (tongue in cheek)
Gene Cass (Morristown NJAWC)
Or what Trump calls "FAKE NEWS"!
Bob Burns (McKenzie River Valley)
Sincere congrats to the New York Times, The New Yorker and all the others who garnered Pulitzers. Without you all we, the public, would be flying blind. Keep it going!
smurf (virginia)
Kudos to the NYT and also to the Washington Post.....NOT fake news! Keep up the good work.
Iconic Icon (CA)
Congratulations! Well deserved!
Esther Greenfield (Durango, CO)
When this national nightmare is over and all the swamp creatures are gone, I believe we need to have a national parade to honor journalists to thank them for continuing to pursue the truth and let the public know. Congratulations NYT and the New Yorker.
Jennifer (California)
Mazel tov to the failing New York Times. Please never stop digging. It's worth noting that James Foreman, Jr., the winner of the prize for nonfiction for his first book, “Locking Up Our Own: Crime and Punishment in Black America," is the grandson of the grande dame of muckrackers, Jessica Mitford. The Mitfords thus carry their passion for social change (some were for the better, some for the much worse) into another generation.
Nancy, (Winchester)
Such an interesting comment about the Mitford connection. Thank you. Maybe Foreman will write a book called The American Way of Democratic Elections that will have the effect of The American Way of Death. We can hope.
Ana Luisa (Belgium)
It's quite obvious that Trump is constantly whining about the NYT precisely BECAUSE the Times is showing so much leadership, and investing so much time and energy in very solid research. Let's take Paul Krugman for instance. During election night, he immediately warned that if Trump would start implementing his economic agenda, within a year the US would fall into another recession again. Trump clearly read that article, because more than a year later, most of his economic agenda is still not written into law or being implemented...
AHR (LA)
Although I sometimes feel like screaming when I read the NYT, I know I would not remain sane or involved without you folks. I don't know if you realize how important a part you play in our lives during these terrible times. The Pulitzer and I say thank you.
Raj (LI NY)
Bravo, NY Times. I am not surprised, however, as this is what I expect from NY Times. If anyone ever needs to draw a line between the real journalism of courage and our ethos, and all the faux stuff out there - this is where to start.
cheerful dramatist (NYC)
Oh how wonderful! How reassuring that integrity is still valued in this country, Congratulations and thanks NYT for your bravery and diligence and keeping a beacon burning bright to help us to find our way out of the darkness,
Tonia Stengelin (Oxford, UK)
Congratulations! Thank you for your good work; all these wonderful hours I can enjoy reading! No morning without a cup of coffee and the NYT. Please continue to shine a bright light across the Atlantic!
SgrAstar (Somewhere in the Milky Way)
Congratulations to the failing NYT, the Post, and The New Yorker. Proud of you guys. Keep that light shining and focused.
Dee (WNY)
I'll keep it short and simple: Thank you New York Times. Your work matters now more than ever. I'm proud to be a subscriber.
CWellmer (Jacksonville, FL)
Congratulations to all the Pulitzer Prize Winners. You see, we do know truth, class and professionalism, and writers have always led us back to the light.
The Misanthrope (Null Island)
A buck says the Twitterhead-in-Chief will tweet some jewel about the "failing _New York Times_" and "phony Pulitzer Prize," but I can't imagine he could plow through an article in the _New Yorker_, so he's probably not familiar. Or has it confused with _New York_ magazine.
Stephanie (Camarillo, CA)
Bravo!
Steve (Sunny Florida)
Will he (hate the name, won't type it) call it a Fake Award?
danielle (buffalo)
Congratulations. Yours is the kind of long form journalism others should strive to emulate. The Pulitzer is more important than the golden globes, oscars and dare I say nobels. As WaPo says, democracy dies in darkness.
Anne-Marie Hislop (Chicago)
Way to go, folks! Well deserved!
Andrea R (USA)
Well deserved! Thank you for being a voice of honesty, strength and clarity. In the midst of disastrous political times, you give us hope. Keep it up!
Ana Luisa (Belgium)
Congratulations NYT ... and keep up the good work, because I'll NEVER be tired of seeing the world's greatest journalists "winning" ... !
Miss Ley (New York)
Good news of the day is The Times has been awarded three prizes for exemplary journalism. Earlier, a friend from Africa, a colleague in the humanitarian community wrote 'I know that you do not like watching politics on T.V.' and the only Media and Press information received in this household is online from the New York Times. In praise of modern technology, to quote David Brooks, while Trump tweets and this American rarely reads what he has to say, The New York and International Times is exceptional and brilliant in expanding one's mental horizons. Congratulations to Mr. Abe Rosenthal and to the ongoing efforts of this Team of journalists, their researchers and assistants, for never has there been a newspaper so much in tone and pace with the times we are living. You should all get the day off and have a party, while wishing you pink dawns on your ongoing search for the truth and honesty.
Mr. Sullivan (California)
Congrats NYTimes.
Maria Ashot (EU)
Standing ovation! Thank you! Thank you, to all of you working in New York, to your colleagues at the WaPo & to all intrepid, truth-telling journalists everywhere, writing history, one word and one breath at a time!
Mary Owens (Boston)
I subscribe to the NYT, WaPo, Boston Globe and the New Yorker, along with about 10 other magazines. If I had unlimited funds (and more time to read them all) I would subscribe to more. Good journalism is more important than ever, I consider it a civic duty to support it.
Sam (Texas)
which other publications would you recommend, besides the ones you listed?
Steve Clark (Tennessee)
That's how you fail! Good failing NYT! Best failing ever...a lot of people are saying it! You don't look like the kind of paper that needs a Pulitzer...fake failing! If you only had an editorial staff of Sanders, Conway & Cohen then you could really fail "worser"! That's the way to show Fox & Friends how to really fail!
Soxared, '04, '07, '13 (Boston)
Congratulations, Times Of New York!! Without the vigilance of a committed, curious press, the darkness, maybe, of this traitorous administration would perhaps have engulfed us now, a terrible thought. But far more importantly is the exposure of vile and criminal conduct that has slimed perhaps every working woman in America at some point, even visitors on visas or those hiding out for fear of discovery or retaliation. The reign of many men in power, their predations a plague upon the human condition, might now perhaps be terminally curbed by the zealous professionalism of reporters and editors, the true guardians of our treasured country, now under attack by government and entertainment and business and media moguls, all bent on satiating their selfish appetites upon the most vulnerable among us. Times! Keep shining that glaring spotlight on the evils of our society, wherever they may be found. Spare no title, no reputation, no prestigious past your unstinting search for the truth, now under attack by our very own president, and, until this one (and another 45 years ago), who would have thought that the undermining would come from within, rather than from without?
susan (nyc)
Congrats to the NY Times!!!! Pretty good for a "failing" media outlet. LOL. Someone should send this article to the man in the Oval Office
Tucson666 (Tucson, Arizona)
Wouldn't do any good--he doesn't read. He only watches TV.
JoanC (Trenton, NJ)
And I'd be surprised if Fox and Friends carried this news...
Pat (WV)
Don't bother, he doesn't read.
Suzanne Moniz (Providence)
The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Washington Post have been tireless defenders of truth in really dark times. Congratulations for this well-deserved honor.
lou andrews (Portland Oregon)
"Truth" as long as the "truth" is hip to the current trends. Faux truth is more apt.
Susan Levin (Silver Spring MD)
Congratulations. We need you now more than ever. The country and the world benefit from your reporting. Wonderful to see that you are duly recognized for your great work.
David (NC)
So happy to see The Times recognized for some of their always excellent reporting. Congratulations to all of the reporters and editors for continuing to shine a light where it is needed. The Pulitzer committee must see things just a bit differently from Mr. Trump.
Lenore (Wynnewood, PA)
Kudos to Megan Twohey and Jodie Kantor whose excellent investigation and reporting were not only extraordinarily thorough but also had an extraordinary impact. Their work, supported by the editors there, started the dominoes falling....and they still are.
cherrylog754 (Atlanta, GA)
Congratulations NYT's. But you still have lots to do. This Administration will stop at nothing to squelch free speech, the Times and Washington Post are on the front lines to protect our Democracy. Heading over to the "Post" to congratulate them for two wins. Alabama and the Russian Interference. I subscribe to both and thankful for it. Keep up the good work.
LN (Houston)
And the tweet will read - Congratulations Falling NY Time, Lying NY Times :) Pulitzer is rigged LOL..
Marge Keller (Midwest)
I expect nothing less from the greatest newspaper in the world! Nicely done. Sincere congratulations NYT!
April Gavey (Everett, Washington)
Congratulations!
G Chow (Quincy MA)
Great Job! This is why I subscribed to both WaPo and NYT. Keep up the pressure on trump !
Karen Sunshine (Earth)
Me too - and thankful
annec (west coast)
Congratulations! Always a joy to read NYTs articles, they are well written, well-edited, well thought out. Maybe not always "joyful" articles, but I appreciate the good and the bad. Happy that what I pay for is of such high caliber. All the best moving forward, keep up the good work! Keeping us sane in an insane nation. Thank you.
OldGeezer (San Rafael)
Congratulations to all at the NYT. Your work is a joy to read and so so important during this dark period of time in the USA. BTW not a single nomination for our friends at FoxNews, Breibart, etc., etc. SAD ! don't you think Mr President?
KC (Massachusetts)
Well done. Thank you.
alan haigh (carmel, ny)
Congrats, NYTimes, I'm a proud subscriber to both the Times and The New Yorker, and while my political views sometimes conflict with your columnists, I consider my subscription money well spent for great writing and journalism in all departments. Some of the best writing you publish may not win awards but it is much appreciated. Trump seems to have been bypassed again- I guess the Pulitzer prize doesn't have a category for best twitter journalism.
D. (Portland, OR)
Congrats to all the great reporting! Go NYT, WAPO and New Yorker. I'm so proud to have subscriptions to these wonderful publications. Keep shining the light on darkness.
zamiatin (California)
Not bad for a failing publication. Can't wait to see the congratulatory tweets!
Miss Ley (New York)
zamiatin, Perhaps Trump reaches first for The National Enquirer at breakfast but The Times has been covering this president for the last thirty years, and its news is more reliable when it comes to breaking stories such as 'Fox News Commentator Sean Hannity was revealed as a secret client of President Trump's Lawyer Michael Cohen, who is under investigation - 4:19 PM - The Times never sleep.
ROLAND (SHAKER HEIGHTS, OHIO)
THANK YOU NIEW YORK TIME. KEEP ON REPORTING THE REAL NEWS ABOUT ALL PEOPLE, ALL COUNTRIES AND ALL LEADERS.
joan (sarasota)
Congratulations! But can't believe you didn't list the other winners in a last para.
Socrates (Downtown Verona. NJ)
Thank you, New York Times....still the paper of record after all these years. You are wonderful and you make all the difference in the world.
NM (NY)
This is victorious, not failing! Congratulations and thank you for your invaluable work.
james haynes (blue lake california)
NYT, WPO and the New Yorker are the thin gray line protecting our democracy.
JCam (MC)
Along with MSNBC.
RP Smith (Marshfield, Ma)
Kudos! Heading over to Fox message boards now to let everyone know that the NY Times won a Pulitzer chronicling the downfall of Bill O'Reilly.
Jean (Vancouver)
How sweet it is sometimes.
Jean Gallup (Connecticut)
Wonderful news. You and The New Yorker opened the floodgates.
Miss Ley (New York)
The New Yorker had Trump squalling in diapers on its cover in a spring issue only a few years ago, plunging red-faced into the tantrums, and it is somewhat of an artistic Still-Life for he shows no signs of growing up.
cstearns (Pittsburgh)
Congratulations! Great work.
Allan Winston (Scottsdale AZ)
Congratulations to the Times for these awards. At a time when serious journalism is under fire and underfunded, this newspaper is providing a critical public service speaking truth to power in many different venues.
Scott (Tacoma)
Failing NY times, eh? Congratulations!
Jena (NC)
Congrats This is why people subscribe - Keep up the good work
Michele (Maine)
I'm so excited that my subscription dollars to the New York Times and to the Washington Post are being put to such good use. Yea democracy! The good guys will win in the end! Keep up the good work!
Willy P (Puget Sound, WA)
An investment in democracy, the NYT (usually) is! Congrats, NYT! Now get back to work. Oh and by the way -- your Comments Section deserves a Pulitzer or two, too...
