“Whoever designed this process is not qualified to run a food truck,” said Kennedy. “It’s embarrassing." “The spending bill will leave lawmakers from both parties with much to boast about….”
That sums it up! Elected politicians are either: 1) totally inept and have grossly mismanaged our country’s finances, or 2) deceiving, self-interested, possibly corrupt, or 3) all the above.
America - Stop being STUPID! This is not a spending bill, it is a borrowing bill. It allows them to borrow money for their self-interest on your credit that you and your future generations will have to service and repay.
We must find a way to hold self-interested Elected Politicians and their staffers and operatives, from both parties, personally liable, responsible and accountable for the lies they have told US, their gross mismanagement of our county, our $21 T and growing national debt (108% of GDP), and our approx. $100 T in future, unfunded liabilities they forced on US jeopardizing our economic and national security, while benefiting themselves, their staffers, their party and special interest donors.

What is in the bill for the poor and middle class? We get a 25% increase on tariff goods.
The Trump wall is now a fence. LoL.
I know! Trump can buy the wall cheap - at Wall-Mart - and not release his credit card statement.
the Art of the Steal.
3
So many commenters seem to be operating under an assumption that the Democrats had leverage in these budget negotiations. They are the MINORITY party right now, so why should you expect the Democrats to get many of their priorities into this bill? If you want that to change, then GET OUT AND VOTE in November.
6
Joyce, when Trump is president and Republicans are backing him, I expect Democrats to shut it all down, just as Republicans did to Obama.
You are normalizing Trump and helping him become more popular by giving him big political wins.
Democrats could have held Trump to Obama's sequester, at the very least.
You cannot RESIST when you are in RETREAT.
1
the solution to he said-she said to is to make each side's offering available to the public. Then trump or whoever cannot say here is what they did or did not offer. After the fact, nobody is trustworthy--not even CHUCK.
1
Of course Trump blames Democrats for "not addressing" the problem he created.
4
I think it might be a good idea fo fully fund the President's spite wall.
and then, taking a cue from his own busines dealings, just refuse to pay for it, mailing the bill to a taco stand somewhere in Mexico City.
that'll give him plenty to crow about... and then shut him up until he's out of office.
I think the military is seriously overfunded. Why do we keep throwing money into the military? What that money should be put towards instead is fighting climate change, helping the underprivileged, and caring for returning soldiers.
9
Military spending makes the shareholders in military contractors richer. It has nothing to do with security.
1
Nice, "White House offered to extend protections for DACA recipients for two and a half years in exchange for $25 billion for the border wall". Now we know what the value of Dreamers are worth.
The new bill increased military spending and salaries, great, I get a pitiful 2% increase which doesn't cover cost of living increase. Smells like a ploy to buy future voters.
2
This bill is yet another example of the GOP and their last minute, slap-dash approach to governance. Why not put more important things in this bill? Why not do what the people want?
Why not solve the DACA problem? Why not pay attention to gun control, which Americans overwhelmingly want and need?
Instead, they fix something they overlooked in their despicably self-serving tax bill and give the military an obscene amount of money. This is another rushed, ill-conceived attempt to beat the clock on a government shutdown and shows the GOP in the worst possible light.
The GOP has passed its expiration date. It is time to throw them all out of office and replace them with elected officials who care about our people and country and honor the Constitution. This, by the way, also applies to Democrats. Pay attention to what we want and do our bidding, or find yourselves out of a job at light speed.
5
I wish We The People, could say - No. , I wish We The People could say - Enough! I wish We The People could say - Stop!
Not one more action, vote, agreement, business. Nothing is to be done in this congress until the Elephant in the room is dealt with. No more money, no more appointees, no more budgets. Enough. We the People , like our children are done. No more oh mys, how awful so, isn't that so treasonous, without you bringing this Sham of a leader and his ilk to answer for their greedy, treasonous actions.
2
I moved from New Jersey to New York City after Governor Christie cancelled the construction of the ARC tunnel project in 2010. People thought I had reacted too hastily. After all, 420,000 people commute each day via New Jersey Transit from New Jersey to jobs in New York City. A trans-Hudson public transportation shutdown would eliminate 11% of the total New York City workforce. That’ll never happen they said.
Surprise! It looks like could happen. Maybe representative Mark Meadows, Republican of North Carolina, has some ideas for job creation in his own state to absorb half a million displaced New Jersey workers. And maybe he believes that he is thinking globally about American prosperity. But we should note that the greater New York City area produces a GMP of somewhat over $1.55 trillion, roughly equivalent to the GDP of South Korea. (And recent estimates place North Carolina's total gross state product at about $425 billion, approximately one third the size of the New York City area economy).
Do our legislators really believe that the importance of having a wall on the Mexican border justifies damaging one of the greatest economic engines in the world? Apparently so.
1
1.3 trillion for 6 wks? Trump to add to deficit 6-8 trillion in a year.
Obama debt each year
FY 2016 - $1.423 trillion.
FY 2015 - $327 billion.
FY 2014 - $1.086 trillion.
FY 2013 - $672 billion.
FY 2012 - $1.276 trillion.
FY 2011 - $1.229 trillion.
FY 2010 - $1.652 trillion.
1
Cant help a newsmashup. We could put a dent in the deficit with a pay-per televised free-style bout between Joe and Don - with a 'behind the gym' backdrop. That fire and brimstone looking Polish sea-crossing kayaker the NYT profiled can referee; perfect as comprehension of any event judgement would be challenging. Battle of the Septuagenarians!
1
“Conservatives” lol
4
Again, more money appropriated for the purposes of killing, maiming, and intimidating people in other countries than money appropriated for the purposes of educating people and helping our citizens to lead healthy, happy, and productive lives.
What does the Republican Party stand for? The answer is death. The Republican Party exists to produce deaths.
Death gets everything it wants in the way of body counts from the US Congress.
Life? Life - the thing that everyone on Earth most values - is treated like the trailer trash cousin of Death, which is the real kingpin that the US Congress and President serve.
4
What does the Democratic Party stand for? Making sure Republicans have enough votes to make up for the Republicans that don't want to take responsibility for voting for their own agenda.
You can RESIST Trump or you can vote for Republican legislation.
You can't do both.
1
Without the benefit of public hearings, the budget process is essentially taxation without representation. Let's throw the bums out in November!
6
Shame on both parties. Of course "The Wall" is a bad joke. It is the $700 Billion for the military that continues a dangerous precedent for both parties. No one in congress has the courage to attack the "holy grail of corruption - the U.S. military". Anyone who knows anything about the military would agree with the following statement: "The military budget could be reduced by 50% while increasing national security by 100%" Of the thousands of worthless military projects that prove this point, the F-35 program is the best, spending $3 TRILLION (yes TRILLION) over its life on a worthless system that not even the military wants.
6
Let's show some respect for a trillion dollars..lemme see..
a trillion is a thousand billion
a billion is a thousand million
therefor
a trillion is like one thousand bundles of a thousand million,
one thousand bundles of one thousand million dollars..
That's a lot of pizza..
3
the foxes are in the henhouse again.
Trump decries Democratic "giveaways" to help Americans, boasts about big and biggest military spending and money toward the big boondoggle wall.
the deficit is ballooning and its all the fault of those poor, sickly widows and orphans.
2
I guess we know now which party is the "No Tax and Spend" Party. Deficits be damned!
1
Using Kansas fiscal planning tools, they're spending 1.3T and we're getting a tax cut? On Nov. 7, on the way out the door, republican "lawmakers" will trip over their discarded fiscal conservatism, and according to the day's talking points, start screaming "tax and spend democrats". And the best goes on...pathetic!
3
The Democratic Party has no idea what it means to RESIST.
Obama was a right of center president that offered a right-wing healthcare bill (designed by the Heritage Foundation, the right wing think tank), protected the global bankers, continued the right wing wars, and bent over backwards to compromise, with nothing to show for it but insults and shutdowns. The Republicans have met every Democratic compromise with more extreme demands for decades.
Now they have a president who is a pathological liar, destroying our government from the inside, who may have gotten help from a hostile intelligence service to get elected, and who basically said he wants to be "president for life," and Democrats are handing him multiple political wins, including hundreds of billions in new spending.
Schumer is a traitor helping Trump to get more popular. Can't any of you Democrats see that?
We don't need a Blue Wave of Republicans pretending to be Democrats who will vote against our interests and for Republican policy, and bring the blame onto the left, like they did with Iraq and bank bailouts.
We have a two party system. The two parties are suppose to oppose each other. That is how the system stays balanced. The Republicans oppose the Democrats (every minute of every day) but the Democrats keep following the Republicans to the right like lost puppies.
To RESIST means that you don't normalize this president by giving him military spending increases and border walls, etc.
RESIST for real.
2
Another month, another delay, another lack of interest in the American people and good government. This is not the government we were taught about in school. It's a mess.
9
Another shutdown in the making? I thought the current Trumpian government was in moral shutdown since Jan, 20, 2017.
2
Having passed the tax bill that throws 10.5 trillion dollars into solid gold toilets, what could go wrong? Legislators and senators are reaping millions a month for what they were elected to do. But of course those incentives are for educational purposes only.
The bottom line: It's beyond irony that if the democrats win in all of the elections, they will inherit a gutted economy on its' way to third world status.
7
Trump is a menace to society but so long as he is in office Dems and any responsible pols must be willing to tolerate his outrages and make compromises. This approach to governance will end when Trump’s tenure ends. Anyone who allows the tail to wag the dog is doing a disservice.
2
Tea bags are all in an uproar about spending and the deficit. This is just after they added $1.5T to the debt with their tax cuts for the rich.
9
Someone promised that Mexico would pay for the wall.
This is how he keeps his promises.
As for spending money on a parade in his honor...
My taxpayer dollars....
Incredible is an understatement.
9
$1.6 billion for more than 90 miles.. What a great deal that's only $17,777,777 per mile.. What an absurd waste!
7
Cost per mile is not the correct metric. Hundreds of thousands of passengers are served. The economic benefit of this project far outweighs its cost.
But hey, if you don't like spending on rebuilding infrastructure after massive storm surges, maybe you'd like to do something about climate change, or at least, prepare for it.
I am so tired of old white men making decisions with my tax dollars that will adversely impact my kids.
They act like kings - flying around the world first class, ordering custom furniture, carting entourages in tow. Acting against the public interest - and getting paid for it. All on my tax dime.
In the meantime, what people need - education, environment, healthcare - left to wither. Yet more and more money for weapons (enough already !) More money for the likes of the Kochs and Mercers (oinn oink)
Vote them all out in 2018.
Their days of writing the narrative and plotting a bleak future for the rest of us needs to come to an overdue and screeching halt.
(BTW- speaking of tax dollars - where the h*** are those tax returns ? and what is he hiding?)
9
What a clustermug. On both sides of the aisle. For the people, indeed...
1
Paul, what’s the hurry?
White House meeting with Trump, Pence and Short.
About the spending bill.
Yeah. You know Mitch, I’d appreciate it if you came along this time. I could use your support.
I’d like to join you Paul, but, well - my ankle is acting up. Look, see how red it is. That long walk to the White House would just kill me. I could never keep up with you.
Yeah. Sure.
Why the sad face Paul? Come on, don’t be such a baby. What will it take to turn that frown upside-down? Could I call in?
A conference call.
Sure. Have Sarah set it up [chuckles to himself].
Oh, that would be sweet Mitch. Thanks.
Happy to help Paul.
2
700,000,000$ for the military this year....716,000,000$ for the military next year...
300,000,000 million guns owned by Americans. Staggering.
5
Voting was mentioned by only 2% of the respondents to this article. It seems Americans would rather fight each other than encourage effective political action.
Political parties are amazingly small entities, at the local level, two or three hundred people can take the reigns. Less outrage, more vote pledging, organizing, registration, and poll day get out the vote operations.
The citizens of the US are being held hostage by Putin, the Koch Bros and the NRA,and a venally corrupt federal political system right and left. Only citizen led revitalization will get the US out of the mess it has created for itself
4
Why is this not at the top of the page? The GOP has borrowed and tax-cutted away the future of our economy, and now they're going on a spending spree. When the chickens come home to roost next year or in ten years, everyone in this country is going to feel it, and it won't be fun. Yet the Republicans get away with calling Democrats "tax and spend." There's another term for "tax and spend," it's called "pay as you go."
7
Amazing that Americans think the GOP is good at running our economy.
They are great at tax cutting, spending and borrowing us into the ground.
Next Great Recession on the way with - let’s try for a 2 Trillion dollar deficit.Fox will blame Obama and it will work!
1
Trump tweets: “Got $1.6 Billion to start Wall on Southern Border, rest will be forthcoming,”
I asked one of the Trump supporter with whom I am friends about PT's promise to have Mexico pay for this wall. He said, "He will, but we need to get started, and they can pay us back."
I think the opposition needs to secure the right to use J. Wellington Wimpy uttering his signature phrase: "I'd gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today."
Run the President's initial promise. Run today's reversal. Close with Wimpy.
3
Congress is going to work again.
Hurrah. Hurrah.
It's reelection time again.
Gee-Hah. Gee-Hah.
------>
Our grand national moronicy recycles.
Doodah. Doodah.
2
What? No money budgeted for Stormy? Big mistake Mr President.
6
Billions for an unneeded and probably ineffective border wall with Mexico? More billions for a defense department that is the largest and most powerful in the world? How many more billions hidden away for special interests and big donors? Another $1 trillion added to the debt?
When will the people in Washington, Democrat and Republican alike, wake up and address the real needs of this nation? Anyone could sit down for 5 minutes and come up with a better list of projects than those that are listed here.
21
They are cutting programs and departments whose task is to protect humans! The money is going to corproations and billionaires and, of course, the military that lost at least a trillion dollars that they still haven’t found. The GOP destroying American on a daily basis. And yes Schumer is an idiot.
13
Schumer is not in a position of strength. He has to get what he can and give up on the rest. Intelligence is not what makes the different. So no, he is not an idiot.
5
Put TRUMP in big gold letters on the wall and allow every person who supports the wall to inscribe their name on it. It will be an enduring monument to the stupidity that xenophobia fosters.
7
Maybe Trump will now be able to shift some of the money Mexico pays us for the walls construction to our health care and bridge repair projects.
11
More money for a useless wall than for a tunnel needed to support 20% of the country's GDP and nearly a million passengers a day.
This government is a disgrace.
16
Congress has one basic job to keep the government running. It can't even do that. It's time to replace as much of this Congress as possible in the 2016 and 2018 elections. Let's election people who can actually compromise and get things done.
5
Pres. Trump should stand tall and veto this spending bill so Senate Demos and Rinos can own it all to themselves.
If he vetoes it, there will be no budget and Trump will own the consequences.
2
We spend more on our military than the next seven countries combined. Just what exactly are we “rebuilding”?
16
Republicans have held all three branches of government since January 2017.
In those 14 months month multiple Republicans have been convicted of running child sex slavery operations. The party supported a child molester for Senate. They just nominated a Nazi in a congressional race in Illinois. They have been indicted, and are facing many more ongoing criminal investigations. The head of their party is a Russian Quisling. They have tried to end protection of the environment, allowed uranium mining in a National Monument, coal sludge dumped directly into waterways. They have used untold millions on personal luxury furnishings and airfair. They pour our money into private bank accounts. They have pushed the nation toward bankruptcy by giving unthinkable welfare payments to the wealthiest among us while trying to end programs for senior citizens that have already been paid for over the course of lifetimes.
In short. Republicans are bad at governing, and sadly they are terrible human beings. They deserve scorn, ridicule, and many of them deserve prison.
They do NOT deserve election. Ever.
14
What about funding for CHIP?
This is no way to run a government. Our budget process has regressed to a series of one-off "deals" with no strategic vision.
Each "deal" contains items that are "hot" at the time while ignoring issues of lower currency. This deal has money for drug abuse and school security but none for DACA,Immigration and CHIP.
Of course we must also include money in each "deal"to assuage the lunatic urges of our President...ie The Wall.
The Republicans have added to the problem with their tax cut giveaway to the upper classes and corporations.
We need to get our act together.Now.
8
Where is the money coming from? The national debt is over twenty trillion dollars, and trade deficit over six hundred billion. How long will other countries "finance" us?
3
Rescind the tax cut for the rich. That’ll save $1.5T.
3
Well, if the Democrats had any sense, they would use their only leverage in the current Congress - that is these bills to keep the government open - to insist on legislation protecting the Special Counsel.
Want to keep the government open Republicans? Sure, support legislating to protect Mueller. After all, it’s the perfect cover. Ultimately establishment Republicans are in a marriage of convenience with Trump only, and I suspect deep down most of them can’t wait to rid themselves of him. They just risk a backlash from their base if they overtly oppose him. Here, it’s win win! They know Mueller is into something and will ultimately destroy Trump, and they can blame the Democrats for forcing the legislation issue to keep the government open, to keep their base at bay.
5
I wish to thank our "fine" Congress for their mimicking the president in passing the budget. So which of you will still be around to yell
"Bankrupt" ?
3
Did we not do this a few weeks ago?
3
Trumps they “refused to take care of DACA. Would have been so easy," And by easy I guess he meant "in exchange for $25 billion for the border wall, according to congressional aides."
It's always easy when it isn't your money.
4
As Tom Petty said, "It's good to be king."
2
Trump's already getting pressured by the far right because this budget is far more friendly to causes that apparently only Democrats find important -- like family planning, healthcare, and the opioid epidemic -- than the Trumpian agenda, which only gets yet another bump for the world's most expensive military plus new millions to protect the Trump royal clan.
As for the border security portion, we can all see that spending is for the fencing agreed upon in 2006, with no wall or Mexican funding for such in sight.
There's no way Trump will sign this.
But if he does, he's losing a lot of support because he clearly has lost.
2
Trump will sign whatever Congress sends him because what he really wants is a chance to mug before the cameras in his reality president TV show. He has no real positions on anything other than what the last person he talked to his told him.
1
Has any person voting on this actually read the bill?
4
Senator Susan Collins of Maine believed the Republicans when they said that her high-risk pools would be included.
No Senator should ever be that naive.
4
There goes those conservatives again, cutting the budget. Not.
3
This is the third GOP induced government shutdown. What is wrong with their supporters who will allow for the rich leaders they pick to feel it is ok to run our government with such contempt. They will force us into a major recession . Did you know since 1945 in every Republican administration we have had did have a major recession. It took a Democratic leader to fix it. Their worst President ever congratulates the new dictator for life in Russia and China at the objections of his National Security people. How out of touch are they a whole lot.
3
There is no mention of the programs that are being cut. I believe Interior and EPA are targeted for major cuts, diminishing protections for our health and the health of the environment.
12
Representative Meadows of NC is Exhibit No. 1 in explaining why Red States and our country are regressing. He wants to spend taxpayer money on a border wall that will not be effective to keep Trump happy, and that Mexico is supposed to pay for according to our fearless leader. But, he does not want to pay for essential infrastructure in one of the most important economic centers of our country, no doubt because it also would benefit Yankees and Democrats. Mr. Meadows would do well to remember that those Blue States he hates help support many impoverished Red States.
30
Actually, the mountain district Meadows represents is over 90% white and has a median annual income of $34,700. Until the 2011 Republican gerrymander, the district also included the city of Asheville, a heterogenous city which has been a highly contested district over the years. Rather than allow the possibility that the Democratic Representative be re-elected, the district was divided to give Meadows a virtual fiefdom.
1
Old Bone Spurs must have much experience in military affairs to declare the military is broken. Or is it another shiny object needed to hoodwink his supporters.
Second thought-I hope some day we can use money to build a big beautiful wall around this moronic president to prevent any future damage to this country.
When does the making America great thing start? Perhaps at the same time as his wonderful health care program starts.
19
No need to build a new wall around him. Leavenworth has a private cell just waiting . . .
I thought Mexico was going to pay for the Wall not the American taxpayer
8
What about the debt that these lowlife politicians continue to increase and kick the rock down the road for future generations to deal with. Schumer is a sellout like his pal pelosi.
Once again these politicians have no backbone to stand up to the trump clown.
2
It is probably bad manners to pull against the home team, but I am one who hopes this blows up in our faces. Batten down the hatches, it could happen.
2
The devil is in the details. Thousands of pages of devilish details.
2
$1,300,000,000.00 all on the National credit card. Who's going to pay it off and when?
Ask any politician and all you will get is a blank look, as if you are the crazy one in the room.
4
What on Earth is this Trump/GOP fascination with a "Don Quixote" wall to the south? It's not the south that's attacked our elections. It's not the south that's gotten into our digital and power grid infrastructure. It's not the south that's got our president sweating bullets from fear of something very awful or embarrassing being divulged to the world. Why cannot our president and GOP congress put money, and resolve, into fighting our real enemy which deals not in pesos, but in rubles? This is disgusting and unforgivable, that our "leaders" should be wasting their energy on some ridiculous piece of fiction, when our nation is truly under attack...and it appears that our president is merely an asset of the power behind that attack.
9
OK, let me see if I got this straight. They already racked up $1.5 trillion for their unneeded tax cuts that really only benefit corporations and the ultra-rich. Now, because they've ignored the real needs this country has, they're proposing to spend another $1.3 trillion to do what they should have done the first time. So what ever happened to all those deficit hawk GOP Congressmen who were so concerned about our growing deficit? These people are all idiots. They're worse than our fake president, who we now know didn't really win the election. #FakePresident. And now #FakeCongress.
7
$1.6 billion American tax dollars that was supposed to be paid for by Mexico, for a wall that won't do anything to stop illegals from entering the country.
Trump's campaign promise was that Mexico would pay for this, well what can you expect from the biggest liar in history.
10
“The Mexicans are going to pay for it. Believe me.”
7
“Would have been so easy, but they don’t care...”
Says the guy who ended DACA.
All Trump needed to do was nothing.
7
man goes around philandering and gets in power using back doors while enriching his businesses, and we pay for his legal battles?
Folks seriously believe that this beautiful wall is going to be foolproof solution? How about crumbling infrastructure , better roads, bridges (hello florida?)after school enrichment programs, preschool for all the kids? better pay for teachers? endowments for arts? PBS?
I mean this is double whammy.
I respect what NYT , WaPo and other credible news agencies are doing, but I have become a candidate for proton pump inhibitors. So much agony and acid reflux.
3
15 years since the Iraq war started....the border wall is chump change. Until someone shrinks the defense department and makes it accountable all of this is hot air.
9
Poor Donald Trump didn't get his wall. How sad! We need the tunnel under the Hudson more than we need an ugly wall on the Mexican border. So far almost all the mass murderers in the U.S. in the past decade have been home grown Americans, not immigrants sneaking across the Southern border. If the POTUS wants a wall why can't he build it himself? Famous world leaders have spent their retirement years building walls, Trump has built many walls already between groups of Americans Now it is time for him to build the wall he has always dreamed of. What a wonderful memorial it will be for our children to visit and learn about Donald J. Trump the Electoral College's Divider who destroyed the American Democracy.
7
“Got $1.6 Billion to start Wall on Southern Border, rest will be forthcoming,” he wrote on Twitter. “Most importantly, got $700 Billion to rebuild our Military, $716 Billion next year...most ever. Had to waste money on Dem giveaways in order to take care of military pay increase and new equipment.”
The "giveaways" - infrastructure spending Trump campaigned on, supporting natural distaste relief, fighting the drug crisis which Trump campaigned on, continued funding for existing social services programs.
SMH
Trump is so dishonest.
9
That toady Ryan will do anything for daddy DJT. Another positive that Romney lost.....no VP Ryan. And here I grew up educated that Congress was a SEPARATE branch of government not subservient to a so called president.
Please..... VOTE in November
14
Wow! Planning through September. The GOP Congress is thinking ahead!
Xi Jinping must be impressed - he has to plan 5-10 years ahead, probably longer. But then, China is a much bigger country to manage, eh?
And China has world-wide commitments, not just commitments to a few dimwit billionaires.
6
Because of all the delays these funds are for this fiscal year which ends in September i.e. what a joke
3
It's a rate occasion when I agree with a Republican legislator from Louisiana, but Kennedy has it right. This process has been ridiculous, an embarrassment.
3
Well there you have it- Mexico is NOT paying for the wall. Thanks Trump voters, you got played and now we all pay for it.
19
'Who's gonna pay for the wall?'
'Who's gonna pay for the wall?'
'Who's gonna pay for the wall?'
Asked three times by Trump at Burlington, Vermont rally. The crowd answered three times "Mexico!"
If there was any doubt as to who is really is gonna pay for the wall Trump tweeted “Got $1.6 Billion to start Wall on Southern Border, rest will be forthcoming,”
4
Let me congratulate our Congress for their diligent effort to mimic the president.
Now could someone tell us all when they imagine the nation will be declaring itself bankrupt ?
3
The GOP pols who vote for this mess...that no one has read...need to lose their jobs in November. This is a mostly horrific spending bill that does not defunds sanctuary cities, does not defund planned parenthood, keeps many Obama-era pet spending projects intact and does not fund the southern wall.
Terrible. Trump needs to find his veto pen.
3
You need to watch something other than Fox News.
2
Jennifer: Please do not pretend that you know me. I watch Fox News less than you do (apparently).
1
When will Mexico pay for Mr. Trump's wall? I'm not hearing about any negotiations happening from the negotiator in chief.
6
Sorry they won't help the Dreamers. They should be ashamed of themselves, but with an a.h. as president and a Congress that supports him what are people to do? Get out and vote to change things all this year: at the local, state, and national levels.
5
And the deficit just keeps on growing because of unnecessary tax cuts. We need to pay taxes to fund the government, and to whom much is given much is required. However, the conspiratorial, lying, thieving GOP demonstrates yet again that its leaders lack even a modicum of integrity. Cut taxes and keep on spending.
Give control of the Congress to the Democrats in November.
2
Why spend money on the military? Put in ones us, let him pay.
Another demonstration that we all need to vote our current unstable government out and elect people who put the American citizen first on the list instead of last.
Vote. Them. Out. November, 2018
4
Every day,the D party should play videos showing DT stating over and over how Mexico would pay for the wall and say they will not add any funding legislation that pays for this wall because DT said, as videos prove...in which he still says,, Mexico would pay for the wall. If people want to hold DT accountable for something, this is it. Use it!!
6
"Every bill takes compromise." Schumer bravely says. Like the wall? Democrats could sink Trump on that alone. Why throw him a life preserver, when they should be throwing him an anvil.
3
No mention of the Obmacare bail out. Was the payoff to the insurance companies included?
I thought Mexico was going to pay for "the big, beautiful wall?"
1
Still nothing for the dreamers, and yet Schumer is satisfied? This ought to be called the 'hear no evil, speak no evil, just sign the bill, bill.
2
Trump also said Mexico would pay for the wall.

Note to Ryan: If you believe any promises made by Trump, I have a wall, a tunnel and a bridge to sell you!
3
There must be partying in Wyoming this weekend. A big time hoedown put on Dick Cheney. His party finally showed its true colors after all. DEFICITS DON'T MATTER!!! (when the GOP is in charge, that is).
3
More than $700 billion to the military? The American people deserve a forensic audit of the DOD to find out what we are paying for and how much. While politicians want to suggest that this is all to "support the troops", I suspect that the bulk of this largess goes elsewhere.
60
Why are we paying more to "support the troops" when it seems like our country is easily undermined by cyber-warfare. How much money is going to shore up our power grids, our election systems, our water etc... from attack by malware versus how much is spent on planes, tanks, and bombs?
5
Seems like a third world country where representatives cannot come together to agree on such a basic thing as budget?
The US has the largest and the most powerful military in the world and there is no country in the world to be able to challenge it. So why this jubilation over increasing its budget further? Defence needs less and not more. Giving funds that military doesn't even want? One should miss Gen Eisenhower who identified the military as a source of skewed priorities.
5
looks like Republicans got a lot more than Dems.Better take control of Senate and Congress this year or it will be too late
4
medical care at affordable prices, NO
military spending, YES
and a WALL...
A wall that will withstand the test of time, and proclaim to all, the message of peace and tolerance and shared humanity, like...
uh, the Berlin Wall?
Shameful!
There's a time to "go along" and there's a time to stand up and say NO.
Shut the government down again, if that's what it takes to stop the funding for the WALL, and the funding for the military build up, which leads to only one outcome, war.
5
The nation is a darn sight better off from the huge chasm left by Bush eight years ago when the economy was in freefall, leaving in its wake a record deficit of $1.3 trillion (an unprecedented unsustainable 10% of the economy) after more than doubling the national debt, and racking up trillions more in unbudgeted costs for two wars. While stablizing the economy and containing the US war footing, the Obama administration grappled fiscally with that massive deficit reducing it at a faster rate than during WW2 demoblization to a more managable $500 billion (now 2% of the economy). Now in one fell swoop so-called president trump rather than building on a sound fiscal construct isfoolhardily and recklessly throwing caution and
prudence to the wind. This is sheer lunacy. God help us.
7
It is clear that Mark Meadows has very selective memory. While it is true that trump did not promise a tunnel, but did indeed promise a wall, I seem to recall that the wall promise also had the proviso that it would be paid for by Mexico. Those little details, if we can still call tens of billions of dollars little, matter. As Benjamin Franklin pointed out, "half a truth is often a great lie."
6
None of these people have read all 2,232 pages of this bill, just as they didn't read the 1000 tax-cut bill. As a result, the Republican Congress, the most fiscally irresponsible in our history, will spend a lot of money we don't have, while ignoring things we need (do I have this right: money allotted to transportation "could be spend on the Gateway project"?), and increasing funds for an already bloated military budget.
6
If you could only add, you would realize that the tax breaks have not left enough money to keep Medicare.
5
I'm more than angry with Schumer and Pelosi is on very thin ice already and this could take away her chairmanship. No DACA deal, money for the wall, again, more money for the already over bloated military that is more powerful than China, Russia and many countries in the EU combined. No money to shore up the ACA and another trillion added to the budget defect, where the deems will have to defend safety net insurance programs.
With McCain out and Rand Paul's disapproval the deems have leverage in the senate and they cower again. I'm so embarrassed by their malfeasance. The deems have no backbone. Perhaps it is time to get rid of the elders in the party. They show no leadership for working & middle class Americans.
2
The Democrats are doing what they can do. But, keep on attacking Democrats and don't expect the Democratic base to come out in force in 2018 and 2020.
Dopey Donald turned down $25 BILLION for his worthless wall just so he could say NO to DACA.
Then he lies on Twitter about the deal that was offered to him and that he rejected, so his "base" (how is that for a double entendre?) will think the other guys are the "bad guys."
Too bad he does not understand that this is not New York tabloid gossip or reality tv.
The BLUE TSUNAMI is going to make that point on November 6, 2018.
Get people registered to vote, get them informed, get them to the polls. We need to vote out all of the Republican enablers of this pox on our democracy.
7
Sadly it is the lawyer run and dominated U.S. Congress that is mostly responsible for the bankrupt situation the U.S. government is in today. America has something called a legal caste with lawyers dominating the government. Late American newspaper publisher Edward Scripps wrote "If there is such a thing as true freedom and democracy then the road to that goal lies over and through the ruin and annihilation of the legal caste."
As a Federal civil servant I along with over a million others must remain in suspense about whether we'll touch our next pay in a few short days. Intransigence in Congress is making many people question the fundamental mandate of our Constitution and how our elected officials always seem to do exactly what the megacorporations who lobby them want them to do. When it comes to their duty to their constituents, they obstruct and lie to cover their true allegiance to a fat envelope brought from K Street. Using Trump's bizarre initiatives like the medieval wall and DACA as a pretext, one thinks that Congress, particularly one party, just loves this exorbitant and ugly game of let's shut down the government. When are the little people who pay the taxes going to shut Congress down? That's what they should consider.
3
The last 5000 tank that the military told Congress they didn't need are sitting in a parking lot on mothballs.
I wonder how they will figure out where to waste our tax dollars on next. The 70 billion in military spending increases are more that Russia's entire military budget.
Fun fact: 70 billion is also the amount Sen. Sanders proposed to give tuition free higher education to our children. The Republicans said this could never be covered with our dept problems. Where did they pull this money put of?
7
Want to see $4-5 billion of your tax dollars rusting away?
There is literally an entire square mile. 640 acres, of M1 Abrams tanks and similar armored vehicles sitting in the high desert of the Sierra Army Depot in Herlong, California.
40°11'40.11"N 120° 8'36.00"W
There's another story here.
It's the bipartisan embrace of the self serving belief that deficits don't matter. (The GOP has long since forfeited whatever claim they had to being the "party of fiscal responsibility".)
But deficits do matter. And they matter because the unacknowledged truth is that America's ability to spend recklessly is joined at the hip to the US dollar's status as the world's reserve currency-- an asset, like gold, that others will hold simply because it as seen as a source of intrinsic value (rather than just a pretty piece of paper).
So imagine (hypothetically, of course) what might happen if America was led by a man who was deeply committed to severing the connection which America has with the rest of the world. It doesn't take a lot of reaching to connect the dots on this one: When America loses the confidence of the world, the American dollar will fall from the sky.
The long running game of musical chairs will be over. The cancer will have fully metastasised. No political posturing will be available to undo the damage. Something the leaders of both parties would do well to take to heart as they enable our current president.
8
Does anyone really think we can pay for this after the recent tax cuts for the wealthy? A "budget" has two sides in a ledger. The growth "promised" from the tax cuts just will not be achieved. The deficits will grow and the Republicans in Congress will further destroy essential services for the least fortunate among us. We used to think of it as "kicking the can down the road." Now it is lighting the fuse to a giant debt bomb that is sure to explode.
3
Fortunately the real economy will ultimately solve the deficit problem by forcing the government to inflate away the value of the US dollar to avoid default. Excessive debt ALWAYS gets liquidated one way or another. Unfortunately, runaway inflation hurts poor and middle class people the most, while merely forcing the rich to buy smaller yachts. Most ten year old kids learn to balance their "allowance budget" or go broke. Why do they forget that lesson when they get elected to public office?
1
Deficit spending; something that both parties have no problem agreeing with.
2
This is a 1.3 trillion spending bill in addition to the 1.2 trillion tax "reform"bill passed earlier-the reckless spending is encumbering not only our children and grandchildren with debt but generations beyond that.In this tax season we are supposed to sit down and carefully fill out our returns following the extensive IRS regulations. Why is it that we have to be so careful and conscientious with our responsibility to fund the government ,but Congress is reckless and cavalier when they are committing this money to expensive projects .
3
Waste of $1.6b on the wall. Why not put 1.6b on something useful like medical research at NIH? US will soon be trailing China on scientific research and development within 10 years.
2
With all the talk of what takes priority in a spending bill, has any serious politician (if that is not an obvious contradiction in terms) given any thought to the source of this $1.2 trillion expense in light of the recently passed Corporation and Millionaires Tax Relief Bill? Or has the self-proclaimed King of Debt convinced all deficit hawk Republicans to play his game called Bankruptcy?
2
Wouldn't it be cheaper to build a wall around our President, allowing the $1.5999 billion dollars freed up to be better spent? We'd also likely be safer.
5
I would like to be wrong, but I am certain Trump is going to fire Mueller. This was literally the last chance the Democrats in the Senate had the leverage to demand protection for Mueller's investigation.
Those of us of a certain age will look back on this as a squandered opportunity for our nation, but don't worry, there will be nothing about in our grandkid's history books to remind them.
1
Mr. Ryan says the bill "fulfills our pledge to rebuild the US military" and in this statement highlights the extreme GOP failure -- it was the GOP "sequestration" insistence that hobbled military funding for years. Now the GOP claims victory when it alone was the villain that put US servicemen and women in danger
3
Our elected officials persistently defy the laws of fiscal gravity as Republicans and Democrats find common ground by spending more taxpayer dollars, while reducing tax revenues. Leaders of both parties shamelessly boast about their "wins" as the seeds for the next financial bubble are sown. On a personal level, this is akin to a worker whose base compensation has been cut, and decides to buy a more expensive home. Both scenarios assume continued access to capital markets to fund increasing debt. Not to forget about rising interest rates on U.S. Treasury obligations that compounds the impact of reckless spending practices.
2
Billions thrown away on the ridiculous wall and hundreds of billions more on the military. But dental and vision coverage through Medicare? No way, we can't possibly afford that.
17
Building a wall in the 21st Century? I’d suggest this President review the effectiveness of the Maginot Line in the 20th C! Oh, wait, he doesn’t do history.
6
The tax cut passed last year combined with this budget will trigger an immense deficit that will crowd out private investment and lead to a sharp degradation of public life because there simply will be no money to pay for roads, highways, bridges. parks, education, etc. Defense, of course, will thrive, as most of that cash goes to private contractors building sketchy weapon systems, but it guard nothing more than an hollowed out nation.
10
A tunnel is more important than a wall, allowing folks to escape from the city back to NJ or vice versa. You never know when you need to evacuate.
But I digress. Any member of Congress who trusts the president 's word on any of this is nuts. Donald Trump is as likely to veto the bill as he is to sign it.
The great negotiator doesn't care. The more mayhem he creates, the more he likes it as a diversion from the Russia probe.
Reading his tweet about Dems and DACA raises my blood pressure. This country has so many real problems, most caused by Congress itself, which are getting thrown into the maw of a cement mixer, with an erratic driver at the wheel.
He's nixing the tunnel because he hates Schumer? Who on earth does he love?
24
I believe that the existing North River (AMTRAK) Tunnels are sufficient for the needs of AMTRAK. If one of the tunnels needs to be taken out of service for repair or rehabilitation, the other tunnel could be used by AMTRAK in a single tracking mode. The major user in these tunnels is New Jersey Transit. Since the vast majority of these riders are New Jersey riders and the transit company is a New Jersey company, New York City and State should not under-right the costs of building new tunnels or repairing the existing ones.
The NYS MTA does share with AMTRAK the costs associated with Penn Station and the East River Tunnels, which by the way, are also used by New Jersey Transit. The State of New Jersey does not under-right costs associated with NYS MTA infrastructure.
New York State does share with AMTRAK the costs associated with the AMTRAK Empire Service.
New York State does not share the costs of train infrastructure owned by the Connecticut Department of Transportation.
The US Department of Transportation is right in describing the tunnel project as predominantly benefitting New Jersey commuters and not AMTRAK riders. The US DOT should only assist AMTRAK with the costs involved with rehabilitating the existing North River Tunnels, and, AMTRAK should have priority in their use.
More money for the military which we don’t need, border wall money but not as much as called for and some of that used for repair. Ironic. At least some money for the Gateway tunnel. Nothing for DACA. That is the very worst part of this bill. And the huge deficit will be paid for by stealing money from the social programs like social security Medicare Medicaid. From the party of the GOP which screamed about deficit spending during the Obama administration this bill increases the deficit and the GOP doesn’t seem to care.
39
This can't pass without 60 votes in the Senate. That means with Dems. There are numerous buy outs for Dem votes. We live in a dangerous world. 9/11 isn't that long ago, and Jihadists along with Russia and China investing in military. Trump may love Putin but Putin don't love the US.
1
Jordan, they plan on blaming it on the next Democratic President.
3
If by some chance the balance of power changes next year, reconciliation should be used to undo the tax cuts foisted upon the average person back to the wealthy plus carried interest. Let them pay our bills for the next few years, and subsidize us with their "trickle-up".
84
They already pay what percentage of total taxes? How many pay no income taxes already?
1
Reality check why do people complain about those who represent us deplorables . We have best representives money can buy. Tell government to stop using taxs money to purchase imports an jobs pay liivng wage wil return to usa . Those jobs will pay taxs that government can use to fund there budget. Borrowing money from the fed to run government is huge mistake an will lead to dead end only endebts our children with are excesses. If government cant stop using tax money to purchase imports american people can pull plug an stop all purchasing imports with there hard earned money.
Right. And the Dems could call this "trickle up for the rich" . At least that would pacify the GOP donors.
1
A costly experiment though, the slow and sputtering movement is still preferable than the periodic shutdowns of government that's becoming a new normal in the Trump era. For, that seems the only way to present a semblance of functional Congress in the face of the chaotic White House.
8
Well, this action, if it's successful in the Senate, will continue the intensifying trend of getting important things done for a change, regardless of how acrimoniously. For those who remember endless continuing resolutions after Jan. of 2011, this provides hope that we're on the way to a far more functional Congress.
Congratulations to BOTH Republicrats AND Demolicans.
1
yup
big, beautiful wall, he says.
with taxpayer's money? how many preschool programs could have been funded instead?
116
How many gang members outside around those preschool buildings?
Are the Mexicans paying for preschool, too?
1
In order to fund preschools, Democrats would have to actually fight for that, with strong arguments, and with legislative tactics other than, "here is everything you want in exchange for vague promises we all know you have no intention of fulfilling."
Democrats, stop believing centrist Democrats who work for global corporations. They are Republicans in sheep's clothing and they made Trump possible and they are making him more popular.
1
No One, no one, no one believes the Dems don't support DACA.
Donald Trump is lying 100% about blaming Trump.
How much longer do we have to deal w his lies?
59
Until Americans wisen up and vote all the Republicans out of Congress.
VOTE THIS NOVEMBER!
4
Sorry Dolly, The don't care. They only care about themselves. Step back a little and look closer at they're words and then actions.
1
dolly, We will have to keep dealing with Trump lies as long as centrist Democrats keep giving him major political wins, like $165 billion in military spending and bank deregulation.
Retreat and RESISTance are not compatible.
Build the base and win elections from the left so that we can force them to compromise.
Reality check the wall was waste for east germeny . Heres easy solution ask the
mexican people if they want to become citzens of usa an join two country together end of problem. As for the spending bill stop all government spending on imports for government use . Means any one works government cant use there pay checks to purchase imports. This would creat 10 millions jobs that pay living wage also would pay taxs from pay roll check to mnaufactor what we use here in usa Bring back little blue tags Made In USA.
5
Sorry. I don't want Mexico's drug problem. Ours is big enough as it is. How many Americans have been to any non-tourist areas of Mexico? We haven't dealt with the poverty in our country. We don't need to take on more of the crushing social problems that exist in that country too.
Wall around east Germany and Berlin worked for how many years keeping their citizens in? Should Israel remove their walls between them and the Palestinians? It would be illegal to deny government workers what others can buy. If I want to buy a cheaper shirt from China, none of your business.
This is a great idea. We do need to start by getting our own act together.
The $1.6 billion for the border wall is disgusting. No money should be wasted in such a manner. Schumer, Pelosi, and company have sold out fellow Democrats living in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. Their actions are despicable. How could they, in good conscience, sell us down the river? For what? The vanity of Trump?
Has the Democratic Party ever stopped for one minute to consider how actions such as these betrayals play with the Democratic voters in one of the fastest growing regions of Texas? How will the state ever become "blue" or even "purple" when the national Democratic leadership sells us out?
45
It's "my way or the highway" attitudes that have been the reason for our non-functioning government all these years. This was a necessary compromise to get other important programs funded. However, if Trump vetoes the bill, which he might do particularly if something negative comes up about him and he needs to distract the public, then all compromises should be pulled and the Democrats should push for priority in their agenda and let the Republicans "compromise."
2
Terry,
You do understand that the Repubs control and Senate and the House, right?
Not the Democrats? When you are in the minority, this is the result of compromise. Trump got a small amount towards southern border security (note that we NEVER talk about a wall along our 5,000 mile northern border with Canada), while the Democrats got funding for their priorities. I agree that the "Border Wall" is disgusting, but you need to be realistic about the amount of power and control that the Dems have now, and realize that this is a by-product of compromise. At least Trump didn't get $25 billion.
2
actually from what I read, the money will be spent on fencing already at the border for repairs, around 32 miles worth. so in reality no money for the wall trump is pushing for. so I am ok with repairs. I am with you other wise. now trump will find a way to say he got money for his wall, another fake story/ or what he does best, lie.
1
It is amazing and depressing how elected leaders can plan to spend so much money and miss out helping the country where they could do the most good. We need better health care, more affordable education and housing, advanced public transportation and clean water in too many of our communities. DACA wouldn't cost us money, deporting undocumented workers including DACA participants would cost our country billions. We don't need to spend more money to bring guns to schools, we need sensible legislation to remove the easy access to firearms.
194
I agree with you Joe, wholeheartedly. Please consider running for elected office.
Mr. Schumer, thank you for pretty much nothing. What about DACA? What about insurance subsidies under the ACA? Big deal that you in Congress are not providing enough billions for Trump to build The Wall, his unique version of "upgrading infrastructure." Why not take that excess for more border security and put it into our deteriorating public schools? Once again the Democrats fold and betray its basic tenets. But once again I will vote the Party's ticket come November. What better choice do I have? None.
73
I guess I don't see the point of blaming Schemer when the Democrats aren't in power. I mean, yes, I suppose he could have refused to vote for anything at all unless the Republicans agreed to every Democratic priority, at which point the government would have shut down, costing us millions (or hundreds of millions) of taxpayer dollars, and leaving federal workers without a way to pay their bills, all while also NOT achieving Democratic priorities.
As you astutely point out, however, the only way to enact Democrats' priorities is to vote in enough of them to not only have a majority, but enough of a majority to stop the GOP from throwing sand in the gears like they did constantly when they were in the minority. The difference between the GOP and the Dems is that the Democrats actually WANT the government to function and work for us all, while the Republicans want the government to fail so they can point and say, "see, government doesn't work, let's privatize it all." When we snipe at the Democrats for not being perfectly pure, and for not exacting maximal destruction if we don't get our way, we play into the GOP's hands.
3
AMinNC
Can you try to see the big picture?
If you allow Republicans to "throw sand in the gears" when they are out of power, than help them "make government work," from their point of view, when they are in power, you are rewarding them for their bad behavior, and costing yourself votes. When Democrats are in power the government shuts down, and when Republicans are in per, they shower cash on the economy. That is why Democrats lose 2/3 of all elections.
If Democrats had any self respect, they would punish Republicans for their bad behavior, stop them from getting political wins, and blame it on the worst president I have ever heard of.
You do not RESIST by giving Trump major spending increases and political wins.
Trump is not a normal president. Stop normalizing him!
“It’s a rotten, terrible, no-good way to run your government,” he said on Tuesday, adding, “Really, should we be looking in thousand-page bills with 24 hours to decide what’s in them?”
He was not the only lawmaker with such frustration.
“Whoever designed this process is not qualified to run a food truck,” said Senator John Kennedy, Republican of Louisiana. “It’s embarrassing. And as bad as it looks from the outside, you ought to see it from the inside.”
Amazing, incredible! So who is it they think created this process? Elves that live in the basement of the Capitol building? Instead of whining, maybe you could spend some time fixing the process, instead of spending most of the year trying, but failing to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
106
And how many pages was the corporate tax giveaway bill they passed that barely got to see the light of the day? Did they read that??
5
They think a $4 trillion budget should fit on the back of an envelope? Proof that these morons do not know what they are doing
Again, Deficits don't matter. When the GOP is responsible. When a Democrat is elected to clean up their mess, it's a different story.
Rinse and repeat, ad nauseam.
165
But somehow, the Democrats don't seem to notice that this has been going on for decades? Maybe they like being played for suckers?
1
Why would Trump sign this? I t doesn't give him 100 percent of what he wants, Schumer likes it and it doesn't annihilate the Gateway. If it pauses the partisan fighting for ten minutes, he won't like that either.
Remember? "I like conflict. I like to watch it."
11
"the deal will include $1.6 billion for more than 90 miles of physical barriers along the border with Mexico as well as related technology"
All for the bargain price of $18 million per mile.
How about paving a few roads in America first instead of building big, ugly walls ?
I understand.....too much to ask.
210
No Gateway money, no Obamacare funding, no DACA fix and Schumer is "feeling very good about this..."
94
It's worse than that. Wildlife refuges will be destroyed, landowners will have their property taken, and the potential for flooding will be increased with border walls built on the levees when hurricanes and tropical storms come. It is a total, unnecessary, disaster. Pelosi and Schumer must hate us in the Rio Grande Valley. Why? We're one of the fastest growing areas in the USA and one of the most Democratic in the state of Texas. The national congressional Democrats are simply setting back Texas from becoming "purple" or even "blue" by engaging in these shenanigans.
37
And off in the future we’ll be hearing, “Mr. President, tear down that wall!” Insanity of the first order! As an aside, will the military stop planning Trump’s parade? Such a waste of time and money! Are the parade costs included in this budget?
8
The "public infrastructure" upgrade cannot progress without even more spending than the "Tax plan" has already generated. As a rule, such infrastructure will be paid for with Federal Bonds and printing money for contracts. Certainly there will not be any added tax money for this work.
The "I" word ...
Government spending based on continued borrowed money by US Bond holders courts a deadly inflation. Selling Federal bonds dilutes the pool of dollars in circulation when those bonds are redeemed if no taxes were used to pay redeemers. This weakens the dollar. Federal Bonds that are based on a weakening dollar causes non-US buyers to want to cash out before they lose even more value. This also discourages more purchasing from non-US purchasers. The Federal Government can (will have to) pay off all Federal Bond Investor redeemers by printing money, but then we have inflation as our currency becomes even weaker internationally. Our goods and services exported get cheaper overseas, but, international dollar buying power goes down, so businesses naturally raise prices to compensate. The price increases are in dollars so we Americans in the USA have to pay higher prices also. This creates a demand for higher wages. BINGO! the "I" word strikes... Inflation.
The route from "I" to inflation is clear.
10
Don't forget the other "I" word ...interest.
Good. This is what democracy looks like.
1
Agreed Eric, as Grant told Lincoln re the Civil War towards the end, it is intimate and ugly at least in terms of politics.
However, they are kicking the can down the road and sooner or later they will have to face the truth that even if they make a final agreement, the recent corporate tax cut has pretty much bankrupted the treasury.
27
Yea, if your standing in a corner looking at the walls.
5
It looks like grift and empty promises?
5
"The deficit is now expected to exceed $1 trillion in the 2019 fiscal year, according to the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, a fiscal watchdog group."
This is the GOP starving the beast.
(Maybe the wall really is to keep US in.....)
74
