Freddy, where are you? This diary entry cries out for a song!

Hi CKent, I put one under Allen Share's delightful music below; my email says it' could show up any minute now. Thanks!!! I love this item.

Oops, I meant I'd put one under Allen J. Share's delightful musing. (I don't know why spellcheck changed musing to music!)

See, we do notice things although we rarely make eye contact with anyone.

A few years after my Dad died, I was walking down the street one day when I saw a man walking towards me from the opposite side of the street. He was too far away for me to distinguish his facial features, but his build was similar to Dad's. The thing that made my heart jump though, and for me to remember the incident to this day, was that his gait was exactly the same as Dad's.

Justin your Diary entry had me grinning from beginning to end. A second reading left me wondering whether, since you wrote that you were in Midtown “on business with another law firm,” if perhaps the woman you hadn’t seen in half a century had seen your name on the daily schedule of appointments. But I think I prefer to believe that she heard you and your keys coming down the corridor and recognized you from that.

It's uncanny what people remember about someone. I occasionally call into radio talk shows. Local people I did business with will email me or later on tell me they recognized me from my voice and accent. Three times I've gotten on a very popular radio show broadcast nationally. This show is very difficult to get into. You can spend two hours on redial and get nothing more than a busy signal. I got a call after one from an old friend in Florida where I grew up who recognized my voice though we hadn't spoken in almost 20 years. I still have the same telephone number after 40 years and I was still in his personal directory.

Allen, I’d also guess that she saw Mr. Wilson's name on a list, and watched for the jiggle - but Mr. Wilson’s theory is so much fun, though, fact or fiction! So was this lady now the head of this firm he was visiting? Or maybe opposing counsel? Tune of “If He Walked Into My Life” Will his footing be unsure? Will his pace be kind of slow? Will the years of added heft Make his step less deft Than fifty years ago? At the moment when I hear those keys Will the decades melt away? Will I recognize his stride When he walks into my firm today. When that guy who had jiggled Walks into my firm today.

Thank you, Freddy. I hope my entreaty helped spur your inspiration--or maybe you were planning this entry anyway. Unfortunately for me, though, I don't know this song. I'll have to peruse my stacks of fake books!
