Well, Charlie, I gotta tell ya, watching the Astros for 59 years wound up turning into a job, too. You weren't even born the first thousand times they broke my heart. You weren't there in all the bedrooms, living rooms, trailers, bars, cars, trucks, cafes, old folks homes, and hundreds of other places, year after year, where I lived and died with the fortunes of the Astros - listening to Loel Passe and Gene Elston, through the Dierk days, all the way to Brownie and JD, Ash, and Blummer.
But ya done good, big fella, ya done good. Thanks.
A great story, well told. My Little League manager moved me from shortstop to catcher my last year. Stayed there through HS and college. Never regretted it. The only position where YOU see the entire field in front of you.
