TC is the manager right out of central casting. Like Wilford Brimley's 'Pop" in The Natural, Terry answers questions like he's talking to a lifelong neighbor from his hometown. That same candor has got to resonate with his players.
Mets announcer Gary Cohen told viewers during a game late in the season that Terry said he "speaks to every player at least once a day..," to which Keith Hernandez replied "I played for [St. Louis Cardinals Manager] Red Schoendienst and you'd be lucky if he talked to you once every three weeks."
Whatever happens with this team, it's all about baseball. There are few, if any, off-field antics or mind games. Seems to me like TC is a big part of that. How refreshing.

He is not Joe Torre, Casey Stengel or Gil Hodges, but he gets the job done in his own way. He most certainly was not my choice, as I think Willie Randolph was not given the opportunity to be a winner. He has been blessed with a wonderful pitching staff, Mr. Murphy and a great defense. I have always been a Yankee and Mets fan, but I would like to see the Cubs win it all. God knows they have waited long enough.
It is great to see that the two managers possess that nonpareil qualification for their job: a lifetime spent in the Game. No amount of analytics or financially driven machinations of adolescent (seemingly) General Managers can match that.

the un-sexiest, sexiest manager in baseball
let's go Mets!
let's go Mets!

Collins has been a trooper with the Mets, sometimes, rarely, going off the reservation, but mostly mimicking Sandy. Fans like him as a person. However, we're still a little leery of his history (and Warthen's) regarding pitcher development - MLB has a junkyard full of Mets failures. Fingers are crossed.

One query, why is Terry using rookie Conforto with a batting average of .000 in the playoffs while Lagares with a .500 average in the playoffs? He warms the bench for approx. 7 innings??
