Remarakably mediocre player.

Carlos Vela is by miles a better striker.

Real did not win the champions league in 2014-15, Barcelona did. Real won the year before, but chicharito was not on the team.

“All of it — the missed penalty, the look on the manager’s face, our sale of Son to free up some money — all of it needed to happen just that way for this to work,” Boldt said. “That’s football sometimes. It’s crazy.

Such is life in general, sometimes wacky while wonderful.

Javier Hernández I wish you well but still, I want the US team to represent the region at the 2017 Confederations Cup in Russia.

"Epic Game"?!? By whose standards? US against Mexico! In 2015? I don't think so.

No question, it's hugely important for Mexico and as an American living in Mexico, I'm rooting for them! Chicharito is amazing!

With respect to Paul from Bellerose, although I certainly agree that the Rose Bowl is not as bad for the US as Azteca, or as good for Mexico as the Azteca, it is probably as fair as you could imagine for a one-off. Just as you note that a two-game series could have meant a single game at the Azteca, it could ALSO have been set for a game in Cowlumbus in February. The USMNT have had more success at Azteca than El Tri have had in Columbus in February. Would the Mexican team really have preferred that combination?

Paul, I agree it's relatively fair as a one-off. How many one-offs are there for a spot in, say, the Confed Cup? No, the rest are the results of tournaments. And can you name a single playoff in World Football that isn't home and home. I'd rather have one match in Cowlumbus and another at the Azteca, and let the better team win. But February? Those matches have had to fit in with scheduled qualifying.

An interesting deconstruction of one way in which a player can seemingly capriciously be found to be excess to requirements and shuttled away, usually to a different keague, with fewer attempts available to exact revenge. It would be interesting to see Team Aspirin line up against United in the knockout.

I still think a one off playoff is ridiculous. There are still about 20 months before the Confed Cup. Plenty of time to schedule two matches. For all the dissembling about the Rose Bowl crowd assimed to be pro-Mexico, it bears absolutely no comparison to the atmosphere at the Azteca, which is also 2000 feet above the elevation in *Denver.* So the USMNT doesn't have to travel to foreign hotels (cue the all night car horns blaring), eat foreign food, or play at altitude. The Mexican team has to travel to a foreign hotel and eat foreign food, but Borden assumes a Mexican advantage? Pshaw.
If Mexico does conjure a win, I wonder how loud and long Landycakes will lobby for Klinsi's dismissal?

It will be remarkable if we beat Mexico tomorrow. We haven't shown much recently and Mexico is hot. Time will tell.
