Araton writes a worthless piece of gossip complaining about worthless gossip interfering with the debut of the Knicks new star! Don't they use mirrors in NYC? Harvey go look in one! For the record I got a short way into this read and quit it, I don't want to read about Derek Fisher or any other sideshow baloney. The author got that much right.

Matt Barnes blows up Twitter about him being with Rihanna. He has a problem with his soon to be ex-wife? No, I think Matt Barnes has emotional issues that need professional help. I'm surprised his children didn't make fun of him, because he is acting in an immature fashion. Something children like to call their parents on.

Gossip hound.

When I saw this story on TV, I thought to myself "how stupid can this man be?"
The Knicks should relieve him as coach post haste. What kind of an example does he set for the members of the team? Such things simply boggle the mind.

As a former well-respected player who was elected to be leader of the union, perhaps seeing his former teammate's wife was Fisher's cry for help after last year's dysfunctional team that had Stoudemire and Anthony in open rebellion from the triangle. Fisher has lost some authority over Anthony and trying to persuade Anthony to give team play priority over chucking the ball.

It doesn't end for long-time fans. This once-great team and franchise is rotten. The rot touches anyone and everyone who comes here. The rot begins and ends with Dolan. No matter who he employs will exhibit the trickle-down rot endemic to the NY Knicks. Until Dolan somehow leaves or is forced out, the sad and embarrassing episodes that fans must endure will never end.

"American institution of higher dribbling." Simply wonderful and insightful barb; I'm still laughing and cringing as I write. Worth the price of admission just for this future quote. Thank you, Mr. Araton.

It's trite, more applicable to describing babies than basketball.

The Knick's rush to put bulk, more muscle, on P fits conventional wisdom, but conventional wisdom is a major contributor to epidemic injury in sport. The Knicks might get themselves a player better able to hold off much more powerful older guys (I dought it), but they increase dramatically the chance that P will go down, and won't play at all.

The same is true of experts drilling P to improve and expand his skill sets, footwork (sequence, stance, path, size f steps, etc. everyone has habituated patterns of holding and using themselves. Those patterns inform all we do, and in many instances have us self sabatoging our actions. High end athletes develop styles that avoid such traps, not fight through them like the rest of us. They find how to make of themselves machines that work in synchronicity, that distribute the forces generated in the performance of a function evenly throughout their skeletons.

The muscle and skill development the Knicks put on this kid will present movement challenges that he has no historical knowledge to help him address. The intelligent self use that made P a first round pick will no longer have the same value, and is likely to cause him to answer poorly as challenges present.

The kid knows how to find and create space, to be perfectly organized to shoot before the catch, his upright stance makes him quick in any direction, and can use the bounce or pass-catch to defeat closers. Let him grow/learn naturally.

New season begins for the Knicks...? Same as the old one... as a JOKE!

Fisher is indeed free to "date whomever he chooses". But to Mr. Araton's point his choice in this case exposes a fundamental lack of maturity and good judgement. Barnes is a known thug, troublemaker. His estranged wife, they're not even divorced, participates in that ridiculous basketball wives "reality" show. Why would any fully formed adult want any part of that? Unless of course the predictably crazy outcome is what Fisher wants. Not easy being a Knick fan. What a mess.
