"...movies about predatory capitalism..."

As if this is a new trend? A new product? A new notion?

Sadly this is a tired old dog that gets dragged out to be flogged all too often by preachy Hollywood denizens who imagine that having pulled off some mediocre box office magnetism their unschooled opinions about subtle ideas have merit.

Movies about predatory capitalism are in general movies about unpleasant people doing unpleasant things that are illegal under any type of economic regime. They are not movies about actual capitalism.

I would welcome a movie about actual capitalism, which -- having seen it in previews -- I can assure you Steve Jobs is not.

A movie about actual capitalism might be one about the rise of, let's say, Southwest Airlines, or the immigrant escaping intolerance who opens a family business in the Bronx. In any event, such a movie would celebrate hard work, thrift, invention and endurance. And have a happy ending.

Good luck finding one of those.

Mr. Scott's tone is engaged and his enthusiasm infectious. I used to be one of those picnic ants. But perhaps I should give movies another chance.

A.O. Scott whose movie opinions I usually respect was one of only a "very" few critics that gave a bad review to "Sicario" (ref: Rotten Tomatoes). He really missed the ball here.

This movie is the best I've seen all year, and I see a lot of movies. It still disturbs me, and that is what great art can do. Sure there were problems with it, as with any movie, but not to properly acknowledge the work of this great director is ridiculous. I have not talked with one person that saw Sicario and did not like it. The great movie era appears to be over with, so when a great one comes along it is important to direct people to see it, even if you think it has flaws or didn't like it.

300 movies a year? He must be brain dead by now.
