While Matt Harvey is an outstanding pitcher, at least, so far, his use of chewing tobacco is very disturbing. It is a very harmful substance and its use sends the wrong message to today's youth.
Matt Harvey is the type of player that brings out the little kid in every fan. When you're young, your favorite player means the world to you. You idolize, imitate, and become genuinely excited when you see your hero play and perform amazing athletic feats. As you age, however, and the heroes from your youth retire and fade from the public eye, it's hard to find athletes that can bring you back to your youth and the initial love for the game you once had. Matt Harvey is one of those athletes. Even as a Nats fan, I look forward to seeing Harvey's exploits for the next decade.
Remember last year with the Yankees and Tanaka? Everything was going great, until it wasn't. With pitchers, it is a start to start thing. Disaster is a pitch away. Don't get too excited and you won't get too disappointed.
He's also a guy that has a lifetime major league record of W-12 and L-10. So can we slow down a little before we start writing his name on the Hall of Fame ballot!!!

Nobody is saying HOF yet. But as for his 12-10 record in his young career, remember that in his superb 2013 season (until the last couple of starts, when it was clear there was something wrong physically), he got paltry run support. He was second in MLB in WHIP to Kershaw (0.93 to Kershaw's 0.92) and third in ERA behind Kershaw and Miami's Jose Fernandez (now recovering from Tommy John surgery), and near the top in several other categories. And he pitched more innings than Fernandez. Pretty good company if you ask me.

Let's see ... never pitched a full season. Never won more than 9 games. I appreciate youthful bravado, but perhaps he still has a bit more to prove?
P S. Those Dark Knight bats are ornamental, not functional, because they seldom meet a pitched ball in a real game. In his almost full season, he batted a mightly .086.

Shades of Tom Seaver returning to lead the Mets pitching staff. Matt Harvey
looked great. Now if we can only get him to stop chewing tobacco!!

If he can consistently fan Bryce Harper and Anthony Rendon, he can chew whatever he wants.
Yessss, we can exhale. Now about that tobacco juice. C'mon Matt, this ain't Alabama

Phenomenal performance by the ace, very much looking forward to his 2015 season. The Mets are off to a good start. But this?
"It’s always good to start off strong, and even better to do so against a team like the Nationals, who nearly made it to last year’s World Series."
Many will recall WSH won but a single game in the postseason and the Nats have yet to show they can win a single series. You don't get any extra credit for losing to the champs, even if you did well against Bumgarner.

The Dark Knight Harvey recalls another fabled figure with a nickname and an incandescent swagger: Broadway Joe Namath.

The Mets have been searching for some swagger, Matt Harvey brings that every 5th day and his star appears bright enough to lift the tide and all boats in Flushing.
WFAN I don't think you were thinking this through when you forced the Mets to the AM dial. Hope you regret it for many years to come. And SNY, bring Bobby Ojeda back now!
