As the author knows or ought to have known, the official name of the country is Former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) and not Macedonia. We do not refer to the USA as America but as the USA. It has been established by historians that FYROM comprises only one third of what is named Macedonia (deriving its name from the Ancient Macedonia), with the remaining 55% being part of Greece and a 10% or so belonging to Bulgaria. So, one should be more careful with the use of controversial terms such as the state of "Macedonia"
Hello Alex,
When I make the Country of the Week quizzes, I follow Times style. The New York Times refers to the country as Macedonia, so that is the terminology I used: https://www.nytimes.com/topic/destination/macedonia
"To appease Greece, the Macedonians have altered their...", why do you refer to them like they are indeed Macedonians !? Whoever the author is, does he know History? Please stop that sort of propaganda !
